Joe the Barbarian

Allyn Gibson

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Star Trek fans may be interested in the first two issues of Grant Morrison's new Vertigo series, Joe the Barbarian. A familiar Star Trek captain, maimed and on crutches, appears in the first two issues.

I won't explain how or why this happens, but it's really cool. :)

Funny thing is, I'd read a post from the artist, Sean Murphy, who'd said the DC lawyers about had a fit about the character's appearance, which prompted him to suggest to the colorist to color his clothing just different enough to not be entirely Star Trek-accurate. And the colorist apparently did it "right' anyway. :)

By the way, if you like the artist on this series, I recommend checking out his foray into Trek comics, namely IDW's Star Trek Alien Spotlight: Borg.

He's not the only Trek character in it either- there's a familiar Klingon too...
