Reads like a "dig" at the Abrams' ship, right?
In this case, it's a bit more literal. I was in "low rent district" department store yesterday and for "shiggles", I browsed the toy section. Lo and behold, I saw several boxes with the "electronic" toy from the movie. (Never expected that store to carry many movie tie-ins.) And the price was marked down to 7 and a half bucks!
Now, though I'm a "TOS" fan from 1972 (though I have fleeting memories from first run broadcast), I thought, "Eh, what the hell..." I don't feel I was "ripped off", but I'm glad I didn't pay full price. The box size is deceiving. I assumed like the TOS "E" from the 90s, the "model" would fill more of the box, with the engines needing to be snapped into place. Well, I discovered it was already assembled and the entire length spanned maybe two thirds or "maybe" three quarters of the box's width. It didn't bother measuring it or noting a listing for length, but it's smaller than the 90s Playmates toy.
But for 8 bucks (that accounts for tax), eh, it's not too bad. (I still like the TOS E not just for "subject matter", but also for the fact one can select one of 4 sound effects. This one makes one cycle through the selections.)
Sincerely,
Bill
