I think its a great idea, the kelvin verse needs to stand on its own. one of the reasons why I am liking some of the reviews for Beyond is that the film is praised for been very fresh and oringal. As much as I loved the TOS Cast and universe, I am happy the Kelvin universe is now able to stand on its own.

I kinda hope for a William Shatner appereance in the new Bryan Fuller Star Trek series (Although to be fair not before the 3rd season or even later, when the show is firmly established as it's own). Doesn't even have to be the original Kirk, he can play a badguy, clone, supernatural being, whatever. As long as it's a hammy role!.
In a movie it would take too much time and take the spotlight away from the new cast. Television is much better suited for such guest appereances. And deep down I want to see Shatner chew the scenery in a Star Trek enviroment again

At the time he had played the character for almost 30 years and the torch was being passed to TNG. I don't think that he or anyone thought that he could potentially return to the role two decades later.

Trouble is Shatner would never settle on a cameo, even as a different character. He has to be in the spotlight and have the scene revolve around him.

He had a great run, time to move on.

No, he means Kirk's grandfather, who is named Tiberius in the nuTrek films. They mentioned him while naming baby Kirk during the Kelvin sequence in ST09.
