JJ Abrams on a new series possibility: "Of course it could"

Unless this ''possible'' NU-series is set in the J.J.VERSE and has the same actors and ship (ENTERPRISE) I don't see much interest in a new series!(Sorry, but rehashed BERMAN era trek ain't gonna cut it!)

Totally agree. The last thing I'd want to see is more warmed over plots that've been tossed around four series.

If they do it, they've got to do it new, but I don't think they have to be married to this crew or this ship.

I think this new world has the potential to take Trek in a dramatically new direction. I hope those who produced the new film have the vision to execute something wonderful on TV.

JJ: "Let's see, do we want to make mo money mo money mo money? I guess it depends. Are we monks who have taken vows of poverty or is this still Hollywood?" :rommie:

It kills me that people ever thought that there was any obstacle to a new TV series besides the bean counters' estimation of its commercial viability. You people need to have more faith in greed.

Yep. Everyone keeps posting here saying it's impossible or unlikely in the extreme, but I've never believed that.

Edit: In response to miraclefan's point above, with the exception of Pine, haven't all these actors done TV recently?

I've a feeling what JJ wants, JJ has. especially now. if he wants it, there'll be a series.

What made Voyager and Enterprise so mind numbingly dull? They were just doing TNG over and over again. Whatever the details of each of those shows, that's what made them failures.

THANK YOU!!! :bolian:

Been saying it for years and people look at me like I have two heads.
... not two heads, just a big, swollen, baseball-lookin' one! :rommie: Actually, I agree with you.

No, seriously. Do it. What an awesome series. And it would be tragedy at its finest considering the finale's in the can.

Not a bad concept... a prequel series to the new movie(s). As long as it is better than Enterprise. I still think a series is more possible as an anchor for the new premium Viacom channel/network. It is supposed to feature more sci-fi content. Has anyone heard anything recent about that project?

If only they broadcast the series on my television, with a good dub.
Enterprise didn't get any good reviews from my friend, which is sad.

I think the time is coming where a new series could do well on television. The bread and butter of trek has been its T.V. series. We may never see the mid 90s interest for it again, but the idea that trek can't make a return to a weekly series is so limiting.

A well done show could hold its own. The market is there.

Remember, though. One series at a time...

yep. the man has a lot of clout.

The question remains, though, how much of his career does he want to devote to a property he didn't create and that someone else owns lock, stock and barrel? It's entirely likely that he'd rather parlay this "clout," at the moment in his career where he's maximized it, into producing and directing and writing projects of his own creation.

You know, Spielberg and Lucas have done their takes on other folks' creations - but they achieved the greatest things they've achieved by following their own muses.

true. case in point: howard the duck.

Pretty much everything is taken from ,referencing, or improving something else.

What do I win?

Hey great... funny thing... they are wearing the same outfit. The coats are different colours but other than that...

I like how Pine is wearing blue while Quinto is in gold.

Re: Teh Topic: If Abrams wanted to spend an afternoon sussing out what a season of a a TV Trek spin off might entail and then have not further involvement other than cashing his "developed by..." checks, I'd be fine with that. If it would be half as entertaining as LOST, we'd be in for a good ride with characters that aren't who they appear to be, or change, die, leave, come back, and in general, some surprises. Which would be a good thing for Trek.
