JJ Abrams is pissed over leaked photos

This all smacks of Paramount's publicity department. They know the audience for this movie is internet nerds, so it's particularly important in this case, but any movie release will have an online/social media strategy nowadays, and "creativity" in guerilla marketing techniques considered a plus. (For starters, it's cheap.)

Leaking photos is good. Leaking photos and then manufacturing a BS controversy about how upset they are about the leaked photos is even better. ;)
Your theory of duplicity sounds valid enough for me, so I have a question? How can we trust that the pictures and the videos were valid, and not a setup?

Back to square one.

Not necessarily.

If the pictures are indeed of the actors (and not shopped), then there's money being spent on whatever it is they are being photographed doing. Having the actors stage fake production photos (if that's what you're saying) would cost money, and go against the idea of guerrilla marketing on the cheap. That's something you can't have both ways, so it's either real production and cheap to photograph for marketing purposes, or fake production and expensive to (stage and then) photograph for marketing purposes.

IDK! The more I think about it, really, the use of a green screen, outside, because of lighting, when the scene is supposed to be on a barge, in space. The only expense they went to was to have a couple of actors, stuntmen, director and somebody to film a scene completely void of anybody trapsing through. What's a few thousand, if it get's us going and talking about the new movie? It was a good ploy, though.

Oh really, Abrams is pissed over a series of photos that reveal shit all about the movie? The only thing we learn is that Cumberbatch will wear a Starfleet uniform.
Are you looking at the same photos as I am? Because that doesn't look anything like a Starfleet uniform. Actually it looks like an ordinary black shirt with a leather jacket.

They did this for the FIRST movie with the fight scene on the drill. Outdoor greenscreen isn't as hard as people think (Law and Order and CSI have been doing this for a few years).

And what makes you think they're supposed to be in space?

It looks a lot like the black shirt (with embroidered Starfleet delta insignia) which we saw Chris Pine wearing in the first movie.

And what makes you think they're supposed to be in space?
The fact that the set has been referred to in several reports as a "space barge" may have something to with that assumption.

You never know, though.

A "few thousand" so you say, plus wasting time on a production with a nine figure budget and that much at stake - hmmm. I don't think so. It's footage of something to do with production, that will be in the film or in a deleted scene at worst. Or, it's shopped by some Eastern European genius who has nothing to do with the production, and it's a great audition for their part on the STXIII team.

The only person who ever "wastes" his time on the set is the director. He's the one responsible for the end product. He can drive the others to work hard to meet a time schedule, if he wants, they don't get paid anything extra. As I've said before, these could have been practice scenes. ZQ was not using a Vulcan nerve pinch on Cumberbatch because he was only using a forefing and a thumb when he grabbed him, the other three fingers being curved under.

An ordinary black shirt with a Starfleet insignia on it. You know, like what Kirk wore in Trek XI.

This doesn't even make any sense. It is in the director's interest not to waste the time of the actors doing unnecessary tasks.

Exactly, practice scenes for something in the script that will end up in the film or on the cutting room floor.

O RLY?

It's not really a uniform then, is it? Especially with the jacket.

The jacket looks kinda like the landing party jackets in "The Cage"/"The Minagerie". It looks like Scotty's wearing one in the 2000AD happy birthday video Simon Pegg and Karl Urban did a couple of weeks ago.

Add to that Cumberbunch's Starfleet Sideburns(TM), and we have a rogue officer/undercover Klingon/whatever.

He's wearing the same pants and boots as Spock, but more precisely it's called "improper wear of the military uniform," and Spock's really peeved about it.

Yeah, come to think of it I seem to recall him first exiling Kirk to an ice planet and then beating the shit out of him for the same reason in STXI. Something about that black undershirt really gets under his skin...

Does that mean there could also be hobbits?

Sherlock was trying to reconfigure the transporter to beam Watson back from Middle Earth. Alas, Spock, who is evidently in his Pon farr, got jealous and wouldn't let him go anywhere near it. Then Nyota, even more jealous, challenged Sherlock to a fight to the death with a phaser, before Spock could tell her she could not use that weapon.

Sherlock ended up on SS Botany Bay after trying to outsmart Khan, unaware of the consequences should he succeed, and the Enterprise found him in his place. Meanwhile Mycroft became a science fiction author for Doctor Who after anticipating this unlikely unfolding of events and decided to lure the Enterprise back in time to help his brother.

That's roughly the story of how Captain Kirk got involved in an affair with a female member of the British royal family in the 21st century.

Clearly this is "Amok Time". Spock is in heat, Nuhura is firing phaser at the priest to stop the wedding. It's gonna be better than Twilight.

;)

er... :ack:

Oh please. Nothing is better than Twilight.

:D
Wait for it! The Hunger Games is coming. Both express the specific need to...have a boyfriend! It'll make the Spock/Uhura affair pale in comparison.:guffaw:

ewwwwwwwww.....I HATE TWILIGHT

I WILL GIVE HUNGER GAMES A CHANCE#

Zac and Zoe are good actors there scenes were touching and believable.....K-STEW/RPATZ are too horny horrible teens actors who took path in a LUSTFUL story and worse they have dumb down teen girls as fans

Sorry I can’t help myself but I intensely hate TWILIGHT:klingon:
