JJ Abrams in England in November...for Trek?

I'm an interested party, I can't say anymore than that ;)

There'll be quite a few people seeing this footage across Europe and the US over the next few days, maybe weeks. If I don't get to see it, details will still find their way out to sites like AICN or Trekmovie.com. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if JJ and co. are counting on it.

Ok, I've just seen it. Look for my report on trekmovie.com in the next few hours. :)

I need to digest everything. In short, I think I liked it, but this ain't your daddy's Star Trek.

Not reading the thread then? Ok, I've seen the trailer and 4 long clips of the film, introduced by JJ (Simon Pegg was there too).

Thread title is about whether Abrams is in England for Trek. Answer: yes :)

By the way, can't find anything about him making radio appearances, he's probably too busy (same presentation in Germany tomorrow).

Now back to writing my report...

Looking forward to reading your report.

What was the general reaction of the rest of the audience (I assume it was primarily journalists)? Any noticeable excitement? Or restrained?

The 400+ audience was, as far as I could tell, mostly cinema industry people and journalists. Some may not have been the biggest fans of Trek, but the reception was warm. I think they can see this film will do well

The net's already exploding with details on this morning's screening, and Anthony at trekmovie will be adding additional details I gave him to his site. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask!

That reminds me, I need to go to the Kelvin thread in Trek Art and tell them what's wrong ;)

I will not read all that for now, i'll try and remain spoiler free for as long as i can (I hope i don't give in within a few hours )

I want to know one thing though. Was any footage of the Enterprise shown ?

The OP is about a radio show. Chris Moyles is an eponymous BBC Radio 1 show.
From the OP:
According to the JJ Abrams/Chris Moyles interview (see link on main Trek Today page), JJ's gonna be in England in November for Star Trek reasons.
The London press screening of footage from the movie and/or the new trailer, just attended by Ghostface1701 and at which J.J. Abrams was expected to be present, is the Star Trek reason referred to several weeks ago in the interview on the Moyles show.

Yes, but not much. We see it under construction on Earth (you'll see this in the new trailer). Also a shot of it after it's dropped out of warp into a debris cloud, and again when a shuttle leaves the ship (extreme close-up followed by very distant shot).

There's also a shot of Enterprise going into warp in the trailer, but it's so brief. No real "beauty" shots of 1701 in the clips, guess we'll have to see the whole movie for that :)
