JJ Abrams confirms ST4 and not recasting Chekov

well they just announced today that there will be a Comic Series detailing the events after Star Trek Beyond so maybe we'll see what they do with Chekov in that.

Cool. I;s still like adaptations of the movies as well. ST09 comic kick-started the franchise. It's a shame they didn't follow up with STiD. I guess Beyond is getting a similar treatment.

So JJ confirms star trek 4 is exciting him , i see the writers JD Payne and Patrick McKay who started to write star trek 3 with robert orci before they were replaced with justin lin, doug ,simon are doing the screenplay makes me think that there film for 3 is being made as 4.

Yeah, that's what worries me a little. I'd prefer to just have the Beyond writers do another movie and I'd definitely hate for the new team to drop Jaylah.

I don't think they should kill the character.

Instead, they should mention that he's been promoted to a better place and then look sad as they talk about how they're going to miss him.

I'm over it already. I'm certainly not interested in spending the next four years talking about what they're going to do w this character.

There's no real reason to think that the Orci script is being recycled.

I certainly hope not. Kinda perplexed why Pegg n Jung aren't writing 4 too??? JJ can have input certainly but they got the new movies close to TOS as I've seen and feel JJ will screw it up

I think that it would be in bad taste to kill Chekov off, and unnecessary (heck the F&F films didn't even do that with Paul Walker's character after he died). He got transferred, promoted, or both. Simple and easy explanation right there.

Recasting him would be the worst possible option imo, and instantly turn me off to any future films with "nu-Chekov" in it.

Why not have jaylah replace chekov as part of her training for starfleet as kirk and crew are still out there and make out that they need a new navigator as chekov was assigined to a new post .
