JJ Abrams and Secrecy... anyone else tired of it?

The thing is, such secrecy has been pretty commonplace for 30-odd years now, and the trend is growing by leaps and bounds. .

Bingo. When I wrote the Dark Knight Rises novelization, I wasn't allowed to read the last fifteen pages of the script until right before the book had to go to press, many months after I finished the first draft of the book.

And I don't blame Warner for being so secretive. The whole time I was writing that book, websites were announcing top-secret DKR "spoilers" (most of which were total bullshit or wild speculation) almost weekly. "Revealed at last! Plot secrets from The Dark Knight Rises!"

If some fans had their way, the entire script would be posted on-line, and critiqued to death, before a movie even started filming.

It's madness, I tell you. Madness! :)

Yeah, I'm kind of tired of it. I understand not wanting to be spoiled. I understand the creators not wanting to leak much, but this just seems childish. Some of this seems to be deliberately dicking around with people.
