Jerry Lawton Ridicules Adult Gamers

^I wouldn't say there was no difference made in the first by being underwater, there were leaks and sounds and slightly flooded rooms, which made it feel like there was some danger to being underwater.
While in the second you did get to experience being outside in the water, or flooded in a torrent of water there felt no danger to it, it didn't really add to the atmosphere, it was just window dressing.

I would love for them to do a current generation remake of System Shock 2, that game had just as much atmosphere 10 years before Bioshock and I'd argue it was a better game.
It certainly had more depth, Bioshock was very console-y (as in: dumbed down/reduced RPG elements).

I'm unable to come up with an online source for this at the moment, but here's an interesting statement in the context of this thread:

"The work we publish will be work that appeals to the imagination as opposed to instincts for gratuitous destruction."
- Electronic Arts, ~1983

Of course EA had higher aspirations back then; hence the 'Arts' bit. Oh my. ;)

Yeah, it's not quite the same EA who have just started "Gun Club".

Isn't it a rather normal thing for the British press to troll for readership/page views?

We as gamers tend to be overly sensitive about criticism. It's time to let the things Roger Ebert, Jack Thompson, and Jerry Lawton say slide. It's not the early 90s anymore. The moral panics are (mostly) gone and gaming is very mainstream.
