For you, Sophie: ... Who's that girl? Somehow, I have to make her mine She might be new, I've only seen her a couple of times And every Man on campus has been asking her for a date But I'm the one that she'll get with - I know it's not too late She only wants winners - and she knows she's on her way up She's got beauty, class and style - a standout in any lineup Time to check my look in the mirror, dress sharp and be cool When we're together, we're turning every head in this school
You're most welcome, Sophie ― most welcome, indeed! And thank you, Lynx ― sometimes, I amaze even myself.
There was a young lady named Kes Who accidentally showed off her breasts The courts they did deem This action obscene But her fans always wish her the best
It is amazing what a large number of poets we have on this thread! Should you have any poems about Tommyboy's blue eyes, I beg you to let me know ...
There are a wealth of personal sites which post STAR TREK poetry - some of which are quite old and sort of 'abandoned, really, but everything's just as they left it. Plenty of poetry to be had Thomas ... the bulk of which makes my own look like it were penned by Edgar Alan Poe, himself! But it's there, just the same. To sample from ... and enjoy ... on a wide variety of STAR TREKKIAN topics, like Tom Paris, as an example. I'd much rather talk about Kes' blue eyes, myself. You know, it's such a shame that Lynx isn't more active in this thread. He knows all of her ins and outs. I love Kes; I completely adore her. But she's got these mystical qualities that are difficult for me to grasp, fully. Lynx knows how to get all into that ... God love him! But I can go on and on about Kes' big, blue eyes. Eyes are the window to the soul, some sage philosopher, or another said once. If they are, then Kes' soul is beautiful and sparkling ...
Téa, your dislike of the Kes character surprises me. Especially as Captain Janeway loved her as if she'd birthed Kes, herself. I would've thought that would've at least melted the ice, as it were, and given Kes the clearance she needs to get on your good side ...
I just know one poem about a man from Nantucket...let's just say the things they say about him are greatly exagerated.
Well, I'm not so active right now because I've written down almost everything which can be written down in some replies to some posters here. But that might change. As for poems, honestly I'm not so good at that. Sometimes I get the inspiration, like when I came up with those lyrics to the Voyager 20 year anniversary which were based on The Beatles tune about Sgt. Pepper. However, that might change. For now I'm quite content with coming up with just a small poem: "Kes is best Better than all the rest Better than anyone Kes is best!!
"Kes is best Better than all the rest Better than anyone Kes is best!!" ... Amen, Brother! Testify!! Nicely done, sir! And you're so right, Lynx: Kes is the best! She shines on Voyager, just like a new diamond! Seven doesn't even come close.
Oh well ... I don't care about the colour of the eyes that much ... as long as they belong to Thomas Eugene Paris .... But the fact of the matter is that he has blue eyes ... so blue eyes are the winners in my book ... And you know ... the winner takes it all ... BTW, in quite a few scenes on Voyager his eyes are not blue or not blue enough ... irritating ... I think that now that I'm about to begin the show for the 36th time, I will have to focus on his eyes more than before ... As well as on the coffee issue that sparked off quite a debate on one of the fora (NOT on Trek BBS) ...
If I might bring up Jennifer Lien, just because that's the subject matter of this particular thread ... I find her performance as Kes to be particularly subtle and nuanced. Lien never delivers a dishonest moment and she never phones it in, either. She was very committed to the job of being an actress - to the show's benefit. One episode that she didn't act very much in, but involves her character heavily, was "Sacred Ground," and it's got one of my favourite Kes moments in it. Janeway's about to carry Kes up some stairs - I don't know what Jennifer weighed at the time, but I'm guessing around 111 (my ex-girlfriend's weight, by the way). Kathryn's knees are knocking ... she's gone all wobbly ... heaving Kes up, each step. And then, there's that wonderful payoff, where Kes opens her eyes and smiles. I just love that - the music covering that moment just needed to be more epic, that's all. But, yeah ... Jennifer underplayed that moment to perfection. It was just the right tonality ...
