Jennifer Lien status

I went to high school with Jennifer. If you watch her in Another World playing Hannah (around April 1991), it would give you a perfect idea of how she was in real life. Another (gasp!) bombshell: she popped pills in class... like all young girls did when you could order them out of the back of magazines. She was not shy, and did not escape a life of drugs/abuse (I read that somewhere). She was going to voice lessons and acting classes and left because she got onto AW. She came through the local BK drive thru to announce it. I mean kudos to her and all her accomplishments in her life, but the first thought that ran through my mind when I saw her arrest photo was "karma!!!"
There have been rumors for many years about her using drugs. I don't know if it's true or not. But I did see her a few times at cons and she always seemed "out of it". Of course I can't say if she was on drugs or not feeling well or just tired but the outward signs were similar. I just hope she gets better

Now, do I see a hint of malice in that last sentence?

As for "karma", it doesn't exist. If it was, some people in high places wouldn't be in high places today (and I'm not referring to anyStar Trek TV executive here).

I hope Karma exists, I know someone who needs a good dose of it

Is he really worse than me! ;)

No honestly, break-ups and all problems with that aren't funny, I know.
But better a break-up than trying to maintain a bad relationship.
Well I don't know you personally LOL
But I don't think you're a bad guy. I hope you would never cheat on your significant other ;)

I can give you a 100% straight answer on that: I would NEVER EVER do that!
Why? First of all, it's one of the worst things anyone can do. I've always loathed people who do that.
Second, someone did it to me once. All girls aren't nice either.
As for me, I might be a jerk sometimes ( as some people on this forum may notice on some occasions) but I have two principles: I never beat a woman, no matter how mean she is and I never cheat.

I know we disagree about Kes but I've never thought you were a bad person :bolian:

This makes no sense. You describe an extroverted girl with a goal who worked towards it and got it and along the way used substances that you admit were commonly used at the time. And then you see her years later having some HUGE problems and you say it's karma?

If everyone who was substance using in high school had that karma the world would collapse.

I kind of assumed they meant karma for using drugs

Yes.

The nutshell of the original comments is that everyone who uses drugs deserves horrible things done to them by god and the universe.

Which continued.

The shit storm that is Jennifer's life now, today, is because she took drugs 25 years ago.

This is cosmic justice!

Ho-rah!

:vulcan: :shrug::brickwall:

Now imagine, if ever one who had ever had even one joint was in line to be smote by God in the next few weeks.

That's 3 to five billion people maybe?

God has better things to do.

...Or he is a prime asshole.

In general I don't believe that everyone who did drugs deserves bad things...so much depends on the circumstances. I do personally think less of people who abuse drugs, but more than that I hope they just get help for whatever the underlying issue was that made them turn to the drugs in the first place

This is about causality, not drugs.

A LEADS TO B LEADS TO C... Remember that?

Does what you had for lunch in a 12 of March 1982, have any effect on your tax returns next year?

Teenage Jennifer's fun night out is disconnected from current day Jennifer's problems because of the other 25 years of choices she made between today and the early 1990s.

In the future, our children, and grand children, instragamming every meal, will not be stumped by a simple puzzle like "What did you have for lunch a quarter of a century ago?".

I am old. :(

And I did find some malice in that sentence from the OP.
Not to mention that the numerous descriptions of Jennifer as being shy and introvert doesn't fit the OP:s description either.

I've met and heard about a lot of good people who for some strange reason have gotten into drugs. Most are tragic cases. I don't condemn them, I feel sorry for them.
But I hate drugs in common and I really hate drug dealers and those who makes fortunes out of distributing drugs. They are nothing but murderers.
