Jeffrey Combes as Shran

Shran should have been onboard from the start, that way they could have done away with Reed (anytime I see him I always think, what an annoying prat!).

An Andorian should definately be included in the next series (whatever/whenever it is).

Shran was definitely awesome, and would've made a great regular on the show.

I really like the idea of an Exchange Program between The Andorians and The Federation. It would be perfect, if Archer was sent off to Captain an Andorian ship and Shran took over the Enterprise  That would've given an opportunity to return to the conflict between the Captain and Crew members as we had with T'Pol and Archer early on.

Captain Pink Skin :guffaw:

Perhaps Shran's placement on the Enterprise would be a punishment designed to humilate him for the lost of his ship? They could wrap it officially as coallition support and what not, but in reality it's just the Andorian fleet bigwigs screwing around with Shran's ego. But yeah, exchange program would probably be the easiest and most logical way to go.

Mayweather would probably have to be killed off if they would add Shran to the cast, though. He barely gets any screen time anyway and an eigth main cast member would only futher put him into the shadows. Well, Nine, if you count Porthos, I guess.

As regards Shran being drafted to the Enterprise crew, the idea would be awesome, but when you give more thought to it, where would he fit in ?

Leader of the MACOS, I think. Shran is an experienced soldier and becoming the head of the ship's MACO detachment would be a perfect method to exercise his skills.

Would a former commander be comfortable taking orders from Archer ?

From *Archer*, yes. Not from any other human. Shran and Archer are friends and allies, and trust each other. Archer is definitely the only human whom Shran would ever take orders from.

yes, Shran was pretty cool. (except for the awkward "pink-skin" joke which makes it seem like he's not very observant about Humans)

I'd always wanted to see a scene where Shran and Mayweather exchange a few lines. Something where the pejorative, "Pink Skin" starts to come out of the Andorian's mouth and then catches as he realizes just how idiotic it sounds. And then he never uses it again.

We-eell, remember we're talking about an alien perspective. For all we know, Andorians would regard Mayweather as dark pink in color. ;) But that's way too dicey for broadcast TV.

Combs as Shran was fun to watch :) Of course I like watching all of Combs Star Trek characters ;) The best part is that he can keep them all straight and they are all good characters. And that you don't see bits of Brunt showing up in Weyoun or bits of Weyoun showing up in Shran and so on. I would have loved to see Combs do a Tellarite [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Times New I2]or one of the other TOS type aliens

I loved how he said tellarite swine, pinkskins and Vuuulcans (with the u bellowed out like the u in disgusting).
Friendship out of animosity was a great theme of ENT and without Shran it wouldn't have worked as well as it did.

Well, when Shran first said "pinkskin" Archer was probably the first human he met, so all he was doing was commenting on the colour of Archer's skin. After that, it just sort of became Shran's nickname for Archer.

Something similar to this does happen in the novels.

Combs as Shran was amazing and Andorians finally got their due! He was definitely one of my favorites!

He just lit up the screen whenever he was on.

He was absolutely hilarious in the fourth season outtakes too - the gags between himself and Bakula were so funny.

I agree that Jeffrey Combs really did a wonderful job as Shran but I also enjoyed his portrayal of the fawning, duplicitous Weyoun character.
Nobody could kissass to the Founders quite like Weyoun could!

And every character he plays is so different. Weyoun, Shran, Brunt, hard to believe they're all played by the same actor. Plus, I've seen him as a Sherriff in a Horror Flick, , a Telepath in Babylon 5, and of course his Zombie flicks where he was nothing like any of those other characters.

His tour de force performance in Re-Animator knows no peer. Remains one of my favorites of his roles.

And I loved Brunt. He stole every scene.

He has small-to-big roles in a lot of Band films, and always throws himself into the role, no matter how small. I watched Robot Jox again recently (Gary Graham's in that one too) and there was Jeff in a bit part. Great as usual.

He was terrific as Shran. The byplay between Shran and Archer was always wonderful.

Agreed! I loved him as Shran! Shran made Andorians sexy, lol! I honestly think he stole the show. :)
