Jedi Accuses Supermarket of Discrimination

So what do these Jedi do exactly at their...um....club meetings? Congregations? Jedi Council meetings?

looking at those two pages, im slightly worried, and wondering if Star Wars really is about to become a global religion, it seems at least as well organised as something like the WI

Meh, they have their moments. But is it really worse than Star Trek fans that show up to jobs or jury duty dressed in Starfleet uniforms, or people that learn a fictional alien language? Every fandom has it's extremist and people that make you go, "Okay, I'm a geek and even I think you need to grow up dude"

You can go to work in your costume -- just don't go to weddings, funerals, jury duty or job interviews in it.

Just as bad.

And folks post here wondering why everyone thinks that SF/fantasy/comic fans are all considered to be freaks? It's because of the Jedi at the supermarket, and the nut-job in Arkansas who wore the Stafleet uniform to jury duty, and all the rest of them.

Tesco did what the Sith have never been able to do in thousands of years, they defeated the Jedi!

And they got double Clubcard points for doing it too.

I bought enough BA miles with one years worth of clubcard points to get a free flight to Europe and back.

Now they have doubled them I should earn 2 flights every year, just from doing my shopping where I would have done it anyway. Tesco rocks!

I got enough Airmiles from the past 2-3 years to pay for the return flight to Mauritius for my holiday this January. OK, not all those miles came from Tesco, but every little helps.

Fuck, I can't believe I just said that. :(

The phrasing of this just cracked me up. :techman:

so which Doctors outfit should I wear for those?

and which companion costume should my bride wear on her wedding day?

I wouldnt have told the guy to uncover his head. I would have just stood there and laughed at him and his plastic light saber.

I think it's mostly a bunch of people in stormtrooper costumes there to have fun and do charity work. They do have the official endorsement of Lucasfilm, though, so were Lucas to declare himself the messiah one day...

so what your saying is I shouldnt go into work tomorrow in my 6th Doctor costume?

No. In fact, wearing that costume while working is exactly what got Colin Baker fired from the show in the first place.:p

Leela if you can talk her into it and you agree to post pics.

The problem with the Arkansas woman who wore her Starfleet uniform to jury duty is that she didn't even formalize it to her dress uniform for the occasion.;)

If he did that, we'd laugh at him.

just looking at the wookepdia site

As a tribute to the loyal group, the legion of blue clone troopers in Revenge of the Sith that Darth Vader leads into Jedi Temple during the Great Jedi Purge, is designated as the 501st.
if they work for Vader, why are they doing works of charity, should they not be doing works of evil?

Two options:

1) It's charity for evil doings (like car washes for the local chapters of the Klan)

or

2) Vader realized that evil gives you some bad PR, so he wanted to turn around his image.

Here's what I don't get about this whole thing, and those goons who put "Jedi" as their reigion on census forms-

Is Jedi a religious thing in Star Wars?

The Jedi's are an order, a peacekeeping organization. Yes they believe in what one might call religious beliefs, but thats called The Force. Putting "Jedi" as your religion would be like putting "Vicar" as your religion.

I probably sound more geeky than they do now, but it always annoys me

You know, aside from referances in A New Hope to the Jedi being a "hoky religion," I don't think Jedi have ever really been depicted as being religious in the movies.

Indeed, if you did look at the Jedi as a religion, it's a pretty discriminating one. Only those with midichlorians in their blood can get in.

Actually, Jedi was referred to as a religion TWICE in ANH.

Han Solo: "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

Grand Moff Tarkin: "The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that remains of their religion."

There was also the line: "Your sad devotion to that ancient religion hasn't helped you conjure up the missing data tapes."

Anyway, I am not certain whether the referenced religion was made up only of the Jedi or of all believers in the Force. If it was the latter, you didn't need midichlorians to join.
