Jeans help needed!

Why would anyone want to wear clothes from the GAP anyways?

As we performed an impromptu "What Not to Wear" deal on my brother (showing him that yes, you can wear clothes that fit) he asked, "Should we go to the GAP?" My friends response, "Fuck no, they still make cargo pants."

As for your jeans issue, buy better and just make sure they fit. I have a few pairs of Bullhead jeans from PacSun that have held up well for me and you can pick up 2 for $55. A good price, especially if you have jeans fetish and/or go through a lot of them.

A friend of mine used to wear the same pair of Gap jeans for 4 years... that was a pretty good advertisement in my eyes! And they just kept getting better looking on him. Soft as butter, and a lovely fashionably faded blue. Maybe Gap standards have slipped or something...

Hubby has had a pair of jeans for over 20yrs. Likely a lot more, because his Mom used to patch them, either real patches or just weaving thread to fill the gap.

Yeah, he's had to "push them a little lower" (under his belly) a bit, but they still fit.

I'm so jealous about that.

My suggestion on a budget is to buy "work jeans" intended for professionals that are either warrantied, have won some awards for holding together, or both. To save money, get them in two or three different shades of blue and wash frequently (as resources allow) while alternating, so it is not nearly as obvious how often their are being worn. I am not sure if they currently make jeans, but have been very pleased with the Red Kap products in the past.

Dickies!

I own a fair number of products from both and while the Red Kap products are a little less consistently "finished" (I usually need to trim a thread or two when they arrive), they have also consistently held up noticeably better under the same duty.

Okay here's the thing, I tend to wear out my jeans pretty quickly, but 90% of the time it tends be in the crotch. They get worn and I sit down somewhere and they split...
So I now have just two whole pairs of jeans left, plus two with small holes already. And I'm getting pretty tired of having to buy new jeans a lot more often then I think I should have to! I mean I'm a student, I can barely afford food at the moment. Anyone got any advice?

Jeans are a definite blind spot in my sartorial knowledge, so I can't offer specific advice.

No dissertation on vintage selvedge Levis? I'm shocked! Shocked!!! ;)

I went through about 10 pairs, every time the crotch wore out. I don't think I had a pair for more than 6 months.

Yes, I am a mug for continuing to buy from them but I liked boot cut jeans. However, when they started playing silly buggers with the sizes (not stocking 36x36 but claiming that they did sell them in their in-store displays) I gave up and switched to 501's. There's a reason why they don't change those. You just can't go wrong with them.
