Jaynz - Tests for Revised Series

Yes, it is silly that some folks have developed an intense dislike to what they call "a dish on a stick", since that is essentially what the TOS Enterprise had. Just that the "stick" was oriented in a different direction.

I would like to think of my dislike for the "dish on a stick" to be more justified than all that. It seems like every ship that has been equipped with a dish on screen seems to have some sort of associated hardware behind the dish. The 1701 had those copper rings, the 1701-D and Voyager each had surrounding alcoves that appeared to bear some specific function. Other ships such as the refit and the Excelsior have dishes that are built into the hull rather than being freestanding units in an alcove. But the damage seen in Generations to the E-B might also suggest that the associated equipment sank rather deeply into the hull and was not simply a dish strapped into that well structure on the nose of the secondary hull.

My problem with the dish-on-a-stick is just that every other dish has something behind it, some sort of important looking structure. If all the other dishes are simply affixed to hulls without being attached to any specialized surface, then I don't suppose it'd bother me at all. But given the nature of other ships (not to mention those that don't have dishes at all) make me think the "dish-on-a-stick" is the one that does not belong.

YMMV

Now on the weapons mounts on the underside. I might like the phasers in front of (and a little above) a lower torp tube farther down and back, right before the sensor dome, so it could fire torps between two streams of phaser fire as we saw in one TAS episode. It gives you a triangular motive that is mirrored in the v for victory nacelle pairs in Connies. Then too, what you have also reminds me of the NX-01 underside, and that's cool too. More weapons emplacements.

Are those torps or blaster/pulse units to either side of the main phasers?
