Toolkit #4, Additional TOS Saucers and recon saucer

Color%20Toolkit%204.png

I kind of like the little saucer. Is that meant to be the "recon" one, or would that be the extra large? :D

looks like the top right one may be the recon one, it's pretty good might have a play with these later

i would try the only one without a bridge module.

Okies, more specific identification.

Upper Left: SFB's "Fast" Saucer Design
Upper Middle: FJ's revised Dreadnought Saucer
Upper Right: SFB Frigate Saucer
Lower Left: "Recon" Saucer as used on the DC Comics "Marco Polo"
Lower Right: PB-31S, loosely based on the SFB "Short" Nacelle

Shouldn't the coloring in the top views be the other way - light gray with dark gray ring?

darn :(

I wanted to make a good design i.e. Armed :P science vessel bassed on the Endurance :(

AFAIL not. We even don't have a schematic of the Avenger/Miranda in Wright-Corder configuration.

Hmmm...as a long-time provider of a vast library of ship designs, I'm somewhat ashamed to publicly say that I have no idea what a "Wright-Corder configuration" is. Is this the original proposed upside-down version of Reliant or something else entirely? Please define - I am genuinely interested.

The Wright-Corder configuration is the Avenger/Miranda class Heavy frigate but the warp engine pylons have a more organic Curve this first referenced in Ships of the Starfleet Vol 1 note the elevation view of the Endurance shown above against a similar picture of the Reliant and you'll see the differences ;)

AH! Got it.

So who are Wright and Corder then?

I thought Calon Riel and Aridas Sofia at Mastercom Data Center came up with the curved design first, subsequently employed by Eric Kristiansen in his Jackills books.

Or is that the name that was given to that configuration by the authors as a random fictional inventor? It's been so long since I actually read those books that I have no clue.

Does the Timm's have any back story at this time ?

Not at the moment. It's really just a TOS Chandley from FASA, though with a lot cleaner lines (the Chandley is another one that looks kinda cool but is actually impossible due the lines, the mini cheated heavily).

Wounder what it would look like if you took the graphics from the new star trek movie and put them on the Timms now that would change the way a person viewed the ship, to bad it couldnt be in the new star trek movie sence they change the time line it would fit with no problem

Wright and Corder seem to be two engineers working at the San Francisco yards in the 23rd century.

I don't know the real-world backstory. My guess is that this was invented to explain differences in some blueprints of the Avenger-class (which was supposed to be the class, the Reliant belonged to) to the ship, that ended up on screen.

The fictional story is, that this is a more warp-dynamic form, that was tested on the ships of the Avenger-class, that were build in San Francisco.

The Endurance-class was a refit of some Avengers as a survey frigate. Endurance was one of the Avengers build in SF, and to my knowledge is the only one of that batch to be converted. So the other Endurances look like normal Avengers with the weapon-pods exchaged or sensors.

Jaynz has moved (posted elsewhere) to jaynz.trekships.org. I didn't redo the image links to the new site - as they are legion and I would grow old and die, with my great-grandchildren carrying on the work of updating the links.
