“[Beyond co-writer] Doug [Jung] and I, we were going to write a spin-off about the character of Jaylah called ‘Jaylah and the Wolf.’ Sophia [Boutella], she did such a great job with her, and she was such a great character. We had this idea that Jaylah was going to go Starfleet Academy and she was going to be put into a group of cadets who were like problem cadets, who were called ‘The Wolf Pack’ and they were sent off to a real planet called Wolf 359 and would get into an adventure on this planet. Yeah, for a while we were working on that, but in the end, it just didn’t happen.”

If this had happened, it could have included the alt reality version of one or more prime universe characters to help tie it to the rest of Trek.

Without knowing more about it, I feel that putting more trek characters would have absolutely ruined the concept. Keep it simple, no legacy baggage. Anyway, like everything else BAD Robot Trek related, it didn't happen.

Well, first off, Wolf 359 is a star, not a planet.

Next, it’s not true that Jaylah’s species has no name; they are known as Tyrakhean. It’s just never been uttered in canon.

This spinoff film could theoretically still happen, but with it reworked where Jaylah is both a Starfleet officer and an instructor at the Academy and leads a mission there with the next generation Wolf Pack, and its kind of a reunion with her OG Wolf Pack. The idea would work for a streaming movie, if they go there.

I'm kind of picturing Prey but with Jaylah. That is a very high bar, though.

It's the kind of thing Long Treks would be fantastic for, but I suspect Section 31 killed the concept dead.
