As for the differences in the Prime and Kelvin Timelines pre-Nero, people forget that in a reality where backwards time travel is allowed, and indeed happens often as we have seen, *causality goes both ways* - when Nero changed the local present he arrived in that changed the future and the future would have effected the past, *via* backwards time travel.

Otherwise Kelvin Kirk and crew could travel back in time to certain events and encounter their Prime Kirk/Picard/Sisko/Janeway

Of course Trek timelines all seem to have...resonances...similar people and places and ships and similar events...it's safe to assume that the timeliness are basically identical, except when contradicted on screen. But that is why the Franklin had a window-viewer and not a screen...the Prime Kelvin is likely a wee bit different looking.
