Really? It doesn't necessarily seem to follow any established Vulcan naming traditions. Doesn't mean he couldn't be a Vulcan, but “Lorca” doesn't sound particularly Vulcan to me.

I kind of hate the naming traditions in Star Trek. Why must an entire species made up of many cultures all have names that sound the same? And even with that, Worf, Gowron, and Duras don't fit into the tired old Klingon naming tradition of starting with a K.

Not disputing the possibility that Lorca could be a Vulcan character or that his name could be Vulcan, just the statement that the name sound's Vulcan, which to me it doesn't, even if Lorot comes kinda close, true.

I agree that it doesn't fit with the classic Vulcan names such as Spock or Sarek. Personally I hope that if he's playing an alien, it's an original species. We're already getting Sarek in the show so I don't see reason for another Vulcan.

First off, he wouldn't need a full face cast for a Vulcan. Secondly, this gave me a Klingon vibe for some reason. Maybe he's infiltrating some race(klingons? other?) and he need the "surgical alteration"/IMF masking technology treatment..
Unless Andorian's have been redesigned as well..
Other than Michelle Yeoh, he's the biggest name in the cast. I'm concerned that 2 and a half months after the news of Jason being cast was released to the public, that he's not filmed anything that could've been put in the trailer, although this assumes he's not in heavy prosthetics.
Yeah, he most likely wasn't in the trailer for reasons of spoilers more than anything else.
