    ... Star Trek watches you!

This may be a crazy idea, but hey, what's a little crazy among fiends?

Several years ago, DC Comics did an interesting Superman mini-series titled Superman: Red Son, where Superman landed in Soviet Russia (Ukraine, to be precise) instead of Kansas, and was raised on a collective farm.

Now, imagine that Evgeny Roddenov (or some suitably-renamed Great Bear of the Galaxy) had created the show - what would it look like? The ship, the crew, the title - at a glance, it's Star Trek, but not as we know it. We've had mirror universes where the difference was a goatee and a bad attitude, but what if this ship had a Keptin Chekov and maybe even a multi-racial crew - even an alien! - plying the stars and bringing the benefits of communism (not necessarily capital "C" Communism) to the galaxy? The very best of Mother Russia (or "Amerika" in an alternate universe ;) ) on TV every week during the Cold War ...

Put on your 'thinkying keps' and design whatever strikes you - maybe it's a propaganda poster, maybe it's a uniform, maybe it's a phaser, or the Enterprise herself - just keep in mind it's Star Trek and try to make it recognizable as such.

Deadline is 1/31/2015 @ Midnight PST - submit as many entries as you like, but be sure to e-mail your entries before the deadline to ptrope at gmail dot com, as always.

Cool! And FYI for those entering, apparently the accepted title for Star Trek in Russian is "Звёздный Путь" (from this article).

Thanks, B.J.! I've also been looking for a translation of the title into non-Cyrillic text - there's a version that is just "Стар Tрек" that wouldn't look very good ... ;)

    Possibly faux-Cyrillic like "STДЯ TЯЭK"?

HA! I did something similar with this topic many, many moons ago, but it was a gag to promote myself and some projects I have worked on including the Alpha Centauri "Caspian Space Monster" ... I love this, and hope to see some epic stuff come from it! Good Luck mates!
Here's my old propaganda, created with huge help from the master Wicked Zombie:
