January Jones gives birth to baby boy, but who is the daddy?

You're free to be in denial all you want, but it doesn't change anything. No matter how much you want to pretend to be outraged by it.

Honestly, your entire argument is so irrelevant it's not even worth being outraged by it. But the fact remains that the idea that children born to parents who didn't say the right magic words to invoke the favor of a sky god (aka "get married") are somehow not "legitimate" is an idea that was only invented to justify discrimination. All human beings are legitimate, and that's all there is to it.

So... keeping in mind it's origins, to which usage are you referring?

Oh I don't know, maybe the very first and primary usage of the word.

Usages of the term "bastard":
bas·tard

   [bas-terd] Show IPA
noun 1. a person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child.
You know, that one.

Ah, the inflammatory definition. The one that calls into question Sci's reputation as a "legitimate" human being whose mother was to be condemned for having him out of wedlock. That is the basis and origin of your chosen definition.

Agreed. It's pointless to even continue.

Exactly what I said. You were pretending to be outraged, and it was painfully obvious from the start. The point remains, you were by your very own words a bastard child. And no matter how much you or anyone else wants to try and twist the words and context in which those words were used around, that will always be the case. Especially when you try to do so using some pathetic ruse of self-righteous indignation.

Where did I pretend to be outraged? I had no idea I was responsible for your decision to imagine emotions I never expressed.

The point remains, you were by your very own words a bastard child.

No, I am not a bastard child. I am the child of unmarried parents, but I am no one's bastard. It is the concept of "bastardy" that is illegitimate, not my existence.

You must be everyone's favorite at parties.

When I was a kid, I liked to read the dictionary for fun, and of course I liked to look up the "bad" words to see what they really meant. "Bastard" was one I'd heard more than once. It gave me the "illegitimate child" definition, and I didn't know what "illegitimate" meant, so I looked it up and realized it meant "child born to unmarried parents." Fair enough. Well, my cousin was the child of unmarried parents, so I casually asked my grandmother, "Is Diana a bastard?"

She said, "Yes, but that's not a nice word to use, so don't say that again."

And I didn't. I was 8 years old at the time.

I think there's a lesson here.

You have me confused with someone who cares much of anything what any of you think of me. You continue to imply a tone and inflection to my words that I never had, both in context and even through exhaustive explanations. You continue to assume, again despite me explaining otherwise, that I don't understand that the word can and does have other meanings.

You're the ones looking for pathetic fights and, by constantly and endlessly assuming something other than what's actually being said, are the ones making the discussion far more ugly and vulgar than it was.

So, yeah, you'll have to excuse me for not caring the least what you people think about much of anything, let alone me. You're the ones full of hate and spite.

It never ceases to amaze me when people who throw out slurs and insults against others for no particular reason try to excuse their needlessly aggressive behavior by responding, "Well, I don't care what you think of me." It's not about what others think of you, it's about the fact that you're doing something that any decent mother -- like mine -- would wash your mouth out with soap for.

You continue to imply a tone and inflection to my words that I never had,

No. We're objecting to your words, not an imaginary tone. You are the person who imagined someone else's tone of voice and then falsely attributed an emotion -- "outrage" -- to it.

We are not ascribing to you any tones or inflections, we are explaining to you that the word "bastard" is inherently a slur and is always as offensive as the n-word, or the f-word, or the k-word, and that, as such, there are no circumstances under which it is an objective, clinical term. You insist, even after being informed of this fact, on using said slur. Therefore, you deserve to be called on it.
