News JANEWAY RETURNS! Star Trek: Prodigy

Unless Janeway has suffered some kind of personal tragedy, like Picard did, I don't see her needing to use a broken down "derelict" spaceship (which is exactly what Prodigy is) to get into space.

WIth her clout, she could probably hitch a ride on any ship she wanted.

I'm still leaning towards the A.I. idea. I mean, who else is going to teach those young punks how to even operate a starship, let alone live up to Federation ideals?
I really hope that this won't be like "Picard". That boring crap has totally ruined one of Star trek's great heroes which is a reason why I have decided never to watch a single minute of it.

An animated Janeway seems like an interesting idea, however I would rather see an animated Voyager relaunch than something else. Still, if it's a good series and not som dystopic crap like "Destiny" and "Picard", then it can be worth watching.

However, after the dissapointment of wanting the 24th century back and being slammed in the face with "Picard" I don't trust anything in Star Trek anymore.

I am thinking two possibilities.

One: it's not really 'Captain' Janeway but Admiral Janeway. The news article would likely use the rank she was most associated with to not only gain a broader base of casual VOYAGER watchers but to not confuse them if they never saw her cameo in NEMESIS.

Two: this takes place at some time before she takes command of Voyager.

Third: it starts in 2378 or 2379, after Voyager got back but before Janeway is promoted.

Fourth: Janeway is demoted!!!

In any case, I suspect option 1 is the most likely. ;)

Well color me surprised.

I'm not the biggest Janeway fan but I recognize her importance.

My expectation:

She'll be a hologram or In consistent communication with the lawless teens, giving them advice along the path to respectability.

My greatest interest in Prodigy is the excellent creative team. Their previous work has be more intrigued than when this was announced.

RAMA

Fifth: She retires, gets bored, and goes back into space (a la Picard).

Holograms don't have ranks.

How do you know it's ruined if you've never watched a minute of it?

If it's because you read something online, give me a couple of hours and I'll write a negative review of Voyager seasons 1-3 and see if I can turn you off that too.

I can't remember if I made it up or heard it from source, but my impression was that Prodigy was set in the Disco S3 era like Starfleet Academy.

Holographic Janeway would work really well if that's the case.

It'd be interesting if the derelict ship was actually Voyager, found in some cave or asteroid, in the far future if it does take place in S3 of DSC. Like was noted above she could be it's holographic AI.

I wonder how they'll work Janeway in with the main concept of lawless teens on a derelict ship, especially if she's the shows lead.
I'm curious what other characters from the Star Trek Legacy CBS might consider to bring back in other shows. We have Picard, Janeway, ****** (spoiler), Spock, Pike. Who's next? I don't think we'll see Sisko although I'd love to see him again. Archer could be a possibility.

It's too big for such a small crew (of TEENAGERS, no less!)

Remember that Kirk was an admiral too. And then went back to being captain. And then back to admiral. And then back to captain again. So it's not exactly unprecedented in the Trek world.

Im really, really looking forward to this! She was such a great captain and mulgrew is an outstanding actress.

However, i'm not sure about this whole "lawless teens" stuff.
I mean, how exactly are they lawless? Do they just dont follow the law? If yes why isnt star fleet after them?
I mean, you dont just get to find a ship floating around somewhere without atleast stealing a shuttle to get there

Well, i guess i'll just have to wait to find out!
