Janet Kagan

Oh, no, that's terrible news. Uhura's Song was one of my all-time favorite Trek novels, and I was always hoping Kagan might come back to do a sequel. She will be missed.

That's terrible news. Uhura's Song is one of those classic novels I haven't gotten around to reading yet. RIP. :(

Oh no! It's been a few years since I last met Janet, but she was always great fun to hang around with at conventions. Readers who like UHURA'S SONG should also check out her other novel, MIRABILE, which is also a fun read.

I'm very sorry to hear this!

I just heard about this elsewhere a few minutes ago. :( I never had the pleasure of meeting Janet, but Uhura's Song remains one of my favorite Trek novels. And while I have yet to find a copy of Mirabile (and I've been looking!), her other original SF book, Hellspark, is one of my favorite novels, period. Ironically, I just finished rereading it the other day.

A great talent is gone, but she'll be remembered and appreciated. RIP, Janet...

I feel like I've lost a very good friend. I knew her only through "Uhura's Song" and a series of wonderfully warm and friendly emails (which I was only discussing earlier today, in another thread.) I know another ST friend who'll be devastated. Her ST novel was very special to many fans.

RIP, Janet.

Very sad news. Uhura's Song is one of the best and most entertaining TOS novels, it's a shame she never wrote another ST novel. :(

So sad to hear this! "Uhura's Song" was an absolute favorite for me and (along with Melinda Snodgrass' "Tears of the Singers") was a strong influence on my writing an Uhura story for "Constellations".

RIP Ms. Kagan.

That's terrible news R.I.P. I remember reading Uhura's Song a few years ago as part of my TOS novel marathon, and I must say that the novel was one of the few diamonds in the dros that was published in the late 80s and early 90s.

RIP, Ms. Kagan. Uhura's Song was one of the first Trek novels I ever read and I really enjoyed it. I've been thinking about reading through some of my old Trek novels this summer, and I'll definitely have to put that one on the list.
