James T. Kirk in 24th century novels

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJHANrzMSlk

Here's an alternative way to Bring Back Kirk. It sees Spock go into the Nexus and pull him out at the same point when Picard appeared to him. I am a huuuge fan of the idea of Kirk in the 24th century.

The Shatner novels are hit and miss - I loved The Return and Spectre and The Ashes of Eden GN felt like an adaptation of a lost movie. I'm listening to Avenger now [in audiobook form] Catain's Glory was also ok - Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty back in a starship having adventures.

Good news! I"m working on one now, due out out later this year.

I heard about this! Great news! Is there anyway you can tell us what year(s) it takes place in?

I don't think it's a secret. Somewhere between the fifth and sixth movies. I haven't settled on the precise year yet.

You just made my day. I love exploring the Trek universe after the Enterprise-A was built. She's one of my favorite ships.

Thanks. I'm having fun playing in the movie era, which I haven't done much before. (Just the framing sequence in To Reign in Hell, I think.)

Thanks Greg! Can't wait! I love the unexplored movie era. The time between V and VI is like 6 years and we don't have much that takes place there, so it will be nice to explre it further :techman:

Actually, there's plenty, but a good chunk of it is in comic book form, since DC's monthly comic from 1989 forward took place between V and VI.

Superb !

Any chance you can fix any of Trek V while you're on ? :)
Ugh, the last thing Trek needs is more fix fic. Coming soon! 300 pages explaining why the Enterprise had 78 decks and how it got to the centre of the galaxy in 20 minutes, none of which will make any difference whatsoever to your enjoyment of the movie!
:barf:

Actually, J.M. Dillard did a pretty good job of making it work in her novelization (which I was rereading the other day for research purposes). I was impressed at how well she fleshed the story out . . .

How does she flesh it out, Greg? Does she save it even?

Of course, there are years between ST V and VI, so there's no reason a story in that time frame has to be tied directly into V's content in any way. Besides, In the Name of Honor is already set pretty soon after TFF.

I was actually refering to novels set between the two. I have some of the comics, but haven't read them in years. May have to bust some of them out ;)

I was thinking of a little more about Sybok.

And maybe Teska - she was identified ony very vaguely in Mind Meld...

^I'd doubt that there would be much to say about Sybok post-STV, due to his death in STV. Unless it was just Spock telling stories about his big brother that went away when he was a boy..
