Just the comments after I posted it were discouraging at first. I wanted reactions to the actual art not debates about canon or political views on Luceno and Lucas.
^ Any thread that leads to pics of Olivia Munn in her Slave Leia outfit equals EPIC WIN!![]()
But, just curious, what species would you have preferred Plageuis to be?
Ooops. Matthew Stover wrote Vector Prime haha. Another author who received hatred from fans after a major character's death.
Luceno saying something and the editors saying something are two very different things. Sigh. This has become too big a deal and something I didn't want to get in. This thread has morphed into something entirely different than what I wanted to discuss which was the book it's self.

If it had to be an alien, the Chiss would be a good choice, because they look human but badass (blue skin, black hair, red eyes) so they're relatable but intimidating. They had an ancient grudge against the Republic, they've allied with the Sith before, they're great strategists who play the long game like Plageuis and Palpatine, and it would provide a further means of connection between Palpatine and Thrawn besides their collaboration in the Outbound Flight incident. One of Dooku's acolytes was even Chiss.

Ugh. I really wish that the Chiss had been ignore pre-Thrawn - his story doesn't work when there's a bunch of Chiss around and Parck should've been able to just look up his species in the library computer! If it had to be an alien, the Chiss would be a good choice, because they look human but badass (blue skin, black hair, red eyes) so they're relatable but intimidating. link said:THIS STORY IS CANON! The backstory of Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious was developed hand-in-glove with the highest authorities at Lucasfilm, to ensure that nothing contradicts George Lucas's vision of his creations!

I think it looks pretty damn cool and the book comes out a day before my birthday too!

David Filoni, Lucas's go to guy for Clone Wars has said Lucas's take on General Grievious and his origin was radically different from what Luceno claimed Lucas told him as per the CW Season 1 DVD Commentaries. I think it's apparent that Luceno's credibility about what Lucas said about Grievious and probably Plagueis should be considered dubious at best and lying at worst.
A Hutt would have been sweet. Especially since there was like only one EU instance of a Force-sensitive Hutt and they're expected to be incapable of Jedi/Sith antics.
"Yah tay so Dark Side! Oo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Ha-ha-ha-ha!"
Or something completely fucked up and alien-looking, some unique, Cthulhu-like monstrosity, something that could stand next to OT Yoda as a one-shot mystery species. Then you tell the story completely from Palpatine's perspective, never getting into Plageuis' head.
I'm kind of meh on Luceno (His prequel stuff is decent, but his post OT stuff: Hero's Trial, Jedi Eclipse, Unifying Force & Millennium Falcon all blew to one degree or another). I'll check this out cause its on the PT side of things.
Cover is fair. The Munn looks interesting, I guess, but Palps is off. Kind of reminds me of some of those OT EU covers where none of the Heroes of Yavin look like the artist had a picture of the actors in costume to go from or, you know, any idea how to accurately draw the human form. He's not that bad, but close.
As if the whole thing about Chiss being relatively unknown in Thrawn's trilogy wasn't already screwed up enough, players can play a Chiss character in the upcoming The Old Republic MMO, set three thousand years before the Thrawn trilogy.![]()

R.A. Salvatore wrote Vector Prime, Admiral Young. The only NJO book Stover wrote was Traitor.
