James Horner, Film Composer for 'Star Trek' Dies in Plane Crash

Just heard about this. Really tragic. :(

The list of great movie scores he was responsible for is just amazing, and I must have listened to them hundreds of times since I was a kid. Especially the ones for TWOK, TSFS, Rocketeer, Aliens, and Apollo 13.

The poor guy. He was very young. My condolences to his family and friends. :(

Very sad to hear this. Some great Trek composers have now passed on, Goldsmith, Rosenman and now Horner. RIP

Along with Goldsmith and Williams, he was responsible for the soundtrack of my youth.

Some people had rock and roll or pop music - I had movie soundtracks.

Reading this today made me gasp audibly and I had to stop and take ten minutes to actually digest it.

R.I.P. Mr. Horner - you've earned it, sir.

:wtf: Well this is a fine slap in the face to wake up to.

The charges of borrowing be damned, I've really enjoyed his music, for both TWOK and TSFS. Looking over his list of scores, I also enjoyed his work for Brainstorm, Battle Beyond the Stars, 48 Hrs., Krull, Commando, Aliens, The Name of the Rose, Sneakers, Patriot Games, my goodness Clear and Present Danger, Apollo 13, Deep Impact, A Beautiful Mind, man, they really just keep coming.... If I left anything out, it wasn't on purpose.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Horner!

Very sad. Not only for the man, but also for the music he was still going to do. The "Avatar" sequels will have to do without his genius.

Rest in peace, sir. You supplied the music I grew up on.

Second star to the right, and straight on till morning.

Very sad news. I knew the name, but I had no idea he had done some many great soundtracks over the decades.

Rest in peace.

I've got The Rocketeer playing now as I type this.
I've had The Rocketeer theme playing in my head since I heard the news. It's my favorite Horner piece, and it's one of my all time favorite movie themes. It just makes you feel like you're flying.
