James Cameron Announced His Return to Terminator

That's tough to support going by Cameron's scripts. Granted it's merely implicit in T1 that John knew full well who Kyle was when he sent him back, but in the T2 script it's explicit.
Well sure, because by that time, Kyle was his father. Reese going back to 1984 and getting it on with Sarah wiped her original son John from a different father from the timeline.

Whatever. As Hawkeye said, None of the Makes Sense anyhow. :p

No, it makes sense because the nature of a paradox is that there is no starting point where everything was "normal". Either Kyle was always his father or he never was. That's pretty much hardwired into the mythos because if it was otherwise, he wouldn't be John Conner.

Cameron is one of the few filmmakers who are able to make sequels that match or exceed the original. Aliens and T2 both are part of that short list. So if there's still something worthwhile to be done here, he'll come up with a way to do it. Just don't expect to be able to predict HOW he'll do it. Whatever spin he puts on it will be unexpected.

That's either a true statement, or it isn't. ;)

^ Halfway agree... in my original, pre-T1 timeline, John is still Sarah's son, but not by Reese.

Yeah, thats what I meant by his lineage.... its hard to get away from it being Sarah that was targeted due to genetics. His father is unimportant. He's upbringing and path in life set by Sarah (whether unintentionally or not) is what matters.

Exactly. Although, that wiping out happened a full iteration of the time loop BEFORE we saw T1, to give room for the picture to exist. T1 is at minimum, the third timeline rewrite.
