James Callis Joins 17th PRECINCT

Starbreaker

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
It's a frakkin' reunion with other BSG vet Jamie Bamber. Callis will play a homicide detective. NBC has ordered the "magical cop show" to pilot.

^^^ You know, now that you mention him, I'd love to see him opposite Stockard Channing in this...

Much as I'd love them to recruit McDonnell, EJO and Hogan too, having so many folks from BSG can't help but be distracting. :rommie:

Well in order for this to survive on network TV it's going to probably need like 3 to 5 million people who never watched an episode BSG to be regular viewers of this show. So it shouldn't matter to that portion of the hypothetical as of yet non-existent audience. That's if the bulk of BSG's audience tuned in and watched this show... Which I guess it could be strange to see so many of them in new roles. Kind of like Joss Whedon re-using actors from his previous shows, but amped up.

Yeah I meant distracting for ME. :rommie:

I like seeing actors playing against other good actors they haven't been paired with before. Instead of Callis, throw Terry O'Quinn in there. Instead of Helfer, throw Kristin Bell in there.

It's also going to be directed by Michael Rymer, who directed most of the big episodes on Galactica.

On Fairy Legal, we have Sam Anders, Joe Adama, Evelyn Adama, Jordan Durham, Odin Sinclair... and for good measure, Jack O'Neill!!!

Yeah, there isn't a single nuBSG viewer who will choose not to watch this because it has a lot of BSG actors in it, and the association won't matter to millions of non-BSG viewers.

So it's partially a Stargate reunion too, with Teryl Rothery there? All they need is Robert Picardo and Jeri Ryan and it's a multi-franchise convention!

I'll watch because I like Bamber and Callis, NuBSG not so much. And why is it nuBSG and not nuBG???? :p

Yeah, I guess maybe if someone had a grudge against BSG or just really doesn't like the idea of going back to the same pond but I don't think that'd be much of a factor. I know some don't care for Katee but I think most of the others aren't thought of that way.

^ Some people are just mental. When the Bionic Woman remake was on NBC, someone here tried to cry stunt casting because big name blockbuster A-list superstar Aaron Douglas had a small role one episode.

Well, I'm excited about the casting news, but not the show (yet). I really need a hint that this is more than a bland procedural with magical elements to get me on-board.

Interesting news. I didn't know Stockard Channing and Eamon Walker were also set to star. Between Callis, Bamber, Helfer, Channing, and Walker, I'm definitely in.

I'm pretty sure they didn't. Channing was only in three season one episodes of The West Wing--none of which coincide with Olmos' two appearances.
