"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

Just like how Spectre was in Goldfinger?

All I remember about Goldfinger is that some chick was spray painted with gold paint.

It was Connery's third film in which Spectre was no where to be seen.

I'm not suggesting that Quantum is going to be out for good, but it doesn't have to be featured in every film.
I'm not suggesting it has to be. I am suggesting that this next Bond film will most likely be the last staring Craig et al, and it would seem a momumental waste if the organisation that has been talked about for the last two films doesnt actually appear in a big role.

Craig has a contract for 5 films. Bond 23 likely won't be his last one.

True, I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just before there was any reason that he would not be in the film. Now he's come out and said he's in the film. So we can move on to the next bit of rumor that is most likely true...

No complaints about Bardem. Bond villains have traditionally been cast (with a few exceptions) away from the usual Hollywood casting pool (think the guys who played the last two villains). Bardem fits right in with the added bonus that people have actually heard of him. I'm sure he'll do fine as long as the character is well written, interesting, etc. I keep hoping they reintroduce Blofeld so maybe this will be the film.

Adele is doing the song. Not confirmed.

Isn't her voice/vocal cords/singing ability, for use of a better word, fucked at the moment though? But yeah, Adele is a good choice, would also be nice for an English singer doing the song again.

As for the name, Skyfall could possibly be an appropriate title depending on what it means.

I'm also wondering, is Craig's Bond a Naval Commander and will we see him in uniform at some stage?

So far we've had no references to Bond's naval career which I have found interesting. Perhaps we'll get some in Bond 23.

Well to be fair we have, just not in Casino Royal and Quantum or Solace and because I was aware of that fact, I asked the question. As for it's lack of mention, it's neither been important to the character nor the stories of CR or QoS so it has been omitted.

^ I meant to say references to his naval career in the Craig era, got muddled in my response. You're right that it isn't important at least in the way the Craig Bond has been portrayed since the reboot but it has been part of the characters backstory and one assumes that M recruited him from somewhere prior to "Casino Royale".

Vesper makes reference in CR to MI6 recruiting ex SAS types, and I have a sneaking remembrance that before CR came out the official website had some kind of mock file for Bond that said he was SAS.

I think he should always have been a naval commander at some point, which leaves the possibility that maybe he became SBS? (Special Boat Service in case anyone's wondering.)

As for the song, I think Adele would be great. The problem with her voice is, currently at least, not permanant, although if she isn't careful it might be--hence cancelling so many gigs.

I still think its a shame that Amy Winehouse was too screwed up to do the song for QoS, I'd have loved to have heard an Amy Winehouse Bond track.

Especially considering the song David Arnold and Don Black had written for her, "No Good about Goodbye", of which Arnold actually used some cues for the score. He later gave the song to Shirley Bassey, putting it on her album The Performance which he produced.

Didn't know she was having problems. she was on the Jonathan Ross show a few weeks back and mentioned she was planning to work on a song in November, just one song she said to which Ross started doing the James Bond theme and she said she couldn't say anything about it. So I guess it's a good bet it's her since she didn't deny it.

According to Total Film, who got their source from a British news organization called The Express, the next James Bond film, purportedly titled Skyfall, is going to be the least action-oriented Bond film in recent history.

Bond, James Bond has pulled off some tricks in his career but if the rumours are true that director Sam Mendes plans to ditch action scenes in favour of “characterful performances”, then this could be the hardest job 007 has ever had to tackle.

Apparently director Sam Mendes has been nixing several action sequences and instead aiming to focus the film more on its story and characters. According to the source, Mendes is trying to make an Oscar-worthy James Bond film.

I'm not so sure of this approach. While I am extremely excited that we live in a day and age where we're getting a James Bond movie from Sam Mendes and starring the likes of Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes, I am not sure if scaling back the action is going to appease most Bond and modern, mainstream movie fans.

People complained that Quantum of Solace was too action-heavy and felt like a generic action film rather than an authentic Bond film, but I am not necessarily sure that scaling back the action is going to turn the tide. If anything, it could alienate most mainstream audiences even more, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

EON Productions and the Bond production team should be hosting an official press conference any day now. I believe filming is scheduled to start sometime in November.

So basically it'd be like the Casino Royale bits of 'Casino Royale'!

I have no problem with them lightening the action a bit, and it'd be nice to see Bond doing some actual spying, but there has to be some action in this surely! I suspect this is a case of someone at The Express reading between the lines, adding two and two together and getting (00)7 ;)

It might simply be a case of Mendes saying "I don't want to do the car chase, shoot out and helicopter duel, I just want to do the car chase and the shoot out."

Or maybe he's gonna turn Bond all Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
