"James Bond 23" officially slated for 2012!

The plot will have Bond travel the world to stop a megalomaniac from acting on a evil scheme. During his adventure, Bond will get a briefing from M, preform some spectacular stunts, and will team-up with a woman who he will romance in addition to others. In the end, Bond will return.
i think i've seen that one.

Wow, you've read the script already?!!!! :p;)

One thing he forgot about, though, is an allie of Bond being killed by the villain in the second act to make the villain seem more threatening.

Yeah, it's a formula. But again, it works!

It appears the title could possibly be Skyfall

Some posters over at the James Bond message board I post at have discovered that Sony Pictures have registered several domain names that include the words 'James Bond' and 'Skyfall' together. Suggesting that this could very well be the name for the next film.

Of course until EON actually reveals the title, all of this is speculation, but the evidence is there and does seem to suggest this is the title.

And if it is? Well it wouldn't have been my first choice, but it has an interesting ring to it. It will definitely grow on me I suppose. I know many people were hoping for another Fleming title, but I'd rather they go with something original than slap another Fleming title on a film that really has nothing to do with it (Quantum of Solace, for example).

Thanks :) I didn't make the effort of posting the domain names here, but I knew someone else would :D

If true, maybe they wanted to go for something simpler this time around considering the criticism QoS's title got.

So, presumably it'd be the name of either the operation (like Thunderball), a weapon or device (like the Goldeneye) or possibly a company (like, to a certain extent, Octopussy, which was the name of the Circus as well as the person)

^ In otherwords something connected to the movie's plot...such as "Quantum of Solace" was a reference to the organization Quantum, which reminds me...they've decided not to completely follow up on Quantum in this movie right? I know this isn't supposed to be a direct sequel or continuation from "Quantum of Solace" like the latter was to "Casino Royale". Will Quantum be addressed at all? It seems a shame if it is a plot point not being explored after Bond went to the trouble of exposing it last movie.

I'd like to see Quantum at least referenced in the next film, but I don't think it needs to go overboard on it. Maybe have Bond infiltrate their operations for the pre-title sequence or something?

As for Skyfall? Interesting, and like Lonemagpie says, could imply a variety of things, even a person!

Ah, Mr Skyfall I presume!

Plus creating it specifically for the film means it its seamlessly, rather than being shoehorned in like Quantum.

Sounds like a good Bond title, though it could also be the name of a game, or something viral. I'm still hoping they go with a Fleming title as there are still a couple usable ones, in particular Property of a Lady which would go a long way towards appeasing those who were confused by Quantum of Solace (never overestimate the intelligence of the audience, as I'm often told). Seriously, though, the title's a perfect one, and would probably allow the song to actually use the movie title for once, too. I'm less enthused about "Risico" and "The Hildebrand Rarity". With the John Gardner novels FINALLY being reissued starting later this month, maybe those titles and plots may fall into contention again. (Benson's novels have also been reprinted in two volumes though they're harder to come by.) The story goes that Broccoli blacklisted Colonel Sun back in the 70s because he was ticked off a "Robert Markham" Bond novel he'd championed was rejected in favor of Kingsley Amis' book, so I doubt we'll see that one ever used, although a character name was borrowed for Die Another Day and a plot element (M kidnapping) went into The World is Not Enough.

Could be a little bit of both. Quantum seemed to be set up as a modern-day, ersatz SPECTRE, and IIRC the screenwriter once said something like, "The core 007 plot is Bond verses Blofeld," and he played coy when someone asked him about it after he got the job writing this one.

Personally, my best guess is that Quantum will be there, but in the background, like in "Casino Royale," and not the main focus (though I suppose it wasn't in "Quantum of Solace", either).

I think at the end of QoS, they wanted to keep their options open instead of having an ending that will force the next film to pick up the Quantum thread. So, Quantum could still be there or not. Truth is, we don't know.

Still...the fact that Bond apparently got a lot of information from Mr. Greene about Quantum...well, it'd be a big let-down if the next film didn't at least refer to the fact that MI6 is looking into the info, and picking up on its leads....

They are remaking the pre-title-sequence of 'Moonraker', I gather. Just wondering how they'll stretch that over 2 hours.
