Jake and Nog at the Bar

Not only the holosuite, but they had to pay when at Quark’s bar or any of the other restaurants/bars on the station.

So what happens when Jake runs out of credits or whatever Starfleet ususes? Does that mean he just has to eat out of the replicator until the next month or whenever they get a new amount of credits?

I suspect that Quark had a deal with Sisko. I mean how often were Miles and Julian in there, not to mention Worf, Nerys, and Dax(both). Quark has also mentioned tabs several times as well. therefore I think that Quark just hands Sisko a tab, or there's a Starfleet payment method.

Also remember in Body Parts, after Brunt takes everything, Sisko comes in with a bunch of people, Starfleet and Aliens alike, carrying furniture, saying that they are doing structural work, and need a place to store stuff. in comes tables, and chairs. "Wait, you can't do this." Quark said, "Not without paying a storage fee. A minimum storage fee, practically nothing" Sisko said send be a bill.

I believe that all Starfleet Officers have access to these Federation "credits" from a Federation Bank and that Quark is then able to convert the credits to latinum.

I wonder if their is restrictions on what you can use credits for. For example we never seen anyone use credits to play dabo but then again that also might be a rule of Quark's.

I seem to remember reading that there is some kind of interstellar ATM at Quark's bar which can convert any kind of currency (Federation credits, Bajoran litas, Cardassian leks, Klingon darseks, etc.) to latinum.

Which makes perfect sense, really. It increases the number of potential customers.

Im right now watching an episode where Jake and Nog are hanging around Quark’s bar. The allow children to hang out at a bar?
I know I'm ancient but we went into bars with my parents when I was young.
It wasn't a big deal at all.
As another poster mentioned, we children weren't allowed to drink alcohol, if there had been gambling, that probably wouldn't have been permitted.
Yep, '70's
Children in a smoke filled bar with their parents. The horror!

My parents never took us to bars. I never even knew bars existed until I was a teenager. My cousin actually owned a famous Jazz club, but it was a nightclub and no one under 18 was allowed in. By the time I turned 18, the club had been destroyed by a fire. I don't say that it was bad thing for Nog and Jake to observe the happenings at Quark's, as I think that older kids should be exposed to the adult world to a degree in order to obtain understanding, but perhaps they hung around there too much. But, then again, not a lot of activities for kids on the Station.

Well there are only so many sets. They had no choice but to hang out their, a great deal.:)

Were Jake and Nog actually sitting at the bar, or were they at one of the tables?

This is a bit of an aside, but how many times in DS9 was anyone - other than Kor, Damar, and that random Klingon Quark killed - actually drunk at Quarks? We see people drinking a lot, but we really don't see people inebriated much at all.

Good point. Quark may have wanted to sell more alcohol, but he could also be quick to call security (or in Garak's case, Bashir) to haul away anyone who is too drunk. Indeed, he seemed to prefer the bar to have a light, optimistic vibe.

Jake and Nog were good friends, different but connected. Perhaps they could do a redo. Of course, some of the characters are kind of long in the tooth now, but I wouldn't mind seeing what Jake and Nog are up to, not to mention an older Bashir, Kira, Odo and even the latest Dax.

Aren't you forgetting Morn?

Apart from the ones we see, there are definitely others...but we tend to see them once they're in a holding cell.

...And there's the time Quark himself got drunk in Quark's. :)

I think Starfleet personal are proably told to not make a scene in a public place by their commanding officer. That's one of the reasons why SIsko got so pissed when Worf,Chief and Bashir got into that fight in "Bar Assocation."

Being drunk in public,
Conduct unbecoming an officer.
