J.J. Abrams Wants Shatner For Star Trek 2!!!

Mirror Kirk, or Emperor Tiberius the 1st, would be neat. Plus the older mirror Kirk would be a challenge to the newer, younger, less experience Kirk.

I like this idea, too. Don't make a time travel plot again. Just put Mirror Kirk or something. It is better that way

The only way they are going to be able to fix the shattered timeline is by having another foray into the fourth dimension. But the aging version of Shatner has mad cow disease, so he's going to bungle it. XIII will be the one in which they finally correct the timeline, thanks to Uhuru, temporal investigator.

I said it in the other thread about this, but I would love to have Shatner do a "Space...the final frontier...." intro to STXII.

As for his role, it's all about the writing.

This will very intresting to see, if shatner should be in the sequel it should be Spock meeting the future james t. kirk.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. Future mirror Kirk is a shady bad guy pulling strings behind the scenes, maybe not reveal who the villain actually is until about 2/3 the way through the movie.

I'd kill to see Shatner back in Trek, especially a good-quality Trek film.

To be honest, I don't think it'll happen. I pray I'm wrong, but I just don't see them putting him in there.

IF Shatner comes back, I'd really prefer that he plays Kirk Prime...Kirk from the original timeline, post Generations... Not only do I want his sloppy death from Generations erased, but I'd love to just be able to see Kirk, the real Kirk, back again.

I don't see why Rainier Wolfcastle should be the star. I think we should bring back Dirk Richter. Kids will want to see the original Radioactive Man.

I love what Shatner did in Trek, both good and bad. If it was not for him, we whould not have Trek today, but we need to move on.

I frankly enjoy what he has done the last few years. Priceline guy, Denny Crane, reading Sarah Palin poetry, WoW guy.... fun stuff.

No more time travel, no more let's make up more fanwank ideas for plots, let's move forward, not backward.

"It was a foregone conclusion that we wanted Shatner in the [first] movie. The problem was that his character died on screen in one of the 'Trek' films. And because we decided very early on that we wanted to adhere to 'Trek' canon as best we could" - JJ Abrams

:techman:

I assumed Abrams was being sarcastic with that comment since there is absolutely nothing about his vision of Trek that adheres to canon.

Either that, or he was as completely oblivious about Trek as.. well.. he appears to be.

I don't think the trek timeline is in danger, really. "Science fiction". Maybe the transporter split everyone who ever beamed into two people and the other person went to another dimension (the evil Kirk from season 1 wasn;t a glitch in the transporter, it was a glitch in not putting the second Kirk in to the other dimension). Or the Kirk in the nexus (which I use all the time, by the way) was one of these. Or the nexus Kirk was a cycborg decoy Kirk had made to keep people off his back so he could relax in retirement since all the universe wanted to kill him. Millions of possibilities.

I hated his lame death in that feature. It was weak and uninspired. I always thought maybe he should have a terminal illness, saves the universe, and then goes off in his own shuttle to live his last days alone among the stars he loved to navigate.

And then again, he comes back in the next film because some aliens with the cure found him. :)

Bring him back.

:)
