J.J. Abrams (Lost) has seen the Ship (Its Awsome)

Hey, Sam.

^ Why are Spock and Kirk floating through Space in the Bath? Where's the Soap?

Is that V'ger in the background? Does he have the Soap?

They need no soap.

They have UltraSpaceGelFoamyXtraSlippyCleanserScrubbyStuff.
Available at all good SpaceShops.

Twenty quid.

Can we please put an end to these stupid joke/parody threads?

Okay...the thing is, no one is requiring ANYONE to read this, or any other thread.

There are a ton of threads in this forum. If you don't like this one, I'm sure there is another that will better suit your taste - funny in a different way, serious, or whatever you like.

"Funny" is a very subjective thing, and what is funny to one person is not funny to another.

Hopefully, among the 25 or so active threads in this forum, there is something for everyone. :)

Does it full mouth kiss another ship?

Well, Enterprise E full mouth kissed the Scimitar in the blockbuster hit "Nemesis," so J.J. and his boys are obviously trying to find a way to top that.

"Operation Backdoor" is being developed right now, and is a closely-guarded secret.

J.J. said that I could use my avatar as a clue, but nothing more.

The subject line disguises this as news. It is misleading. Crap like this is bringing down the entire forum. If people want to do a parody thread, they should label it as such.

Did you even bother to read my original post? I don't care if the thread is funny or not. The parody threads have gotten out of hand and a stop needs to be put to them. Maybe you could, I dunno, start doing your job? I know that's a novel idea an all for a Trek XI mod.

Akira, chill a bit. Counting this, I see a whopping 4 parody threads on the front page. Besides, it seems that nearly everyone but you thinks these are funny, and I wouldn't be shocked if your protests actually lead to more popping up.

 Please. This thread title could not be LESS serious.

Labeling it as "a parody thread" would, oh, I don't know, kind of DEFEAT THE PURPOSE. :brickwall:

From the board rules under "What You Can't Do"

You can't post the same thing multiple times on the board, or post the same thing over and over in a certain thread or forum, or continuously make posts that have no real content or relevance to what is being discussed.

Mods, do you job. Enforce the rules.

Perhaps on the day that you become a moderator your interpretation of the rules will be as relevant as that of the folks who actually are.

The current moderator of this forum has just made clear what hers is. You may as well move along.

And, to point out the obvious, the title of this thread is transparently a joke and is not in any way "disguised as news." That's like accusing "The Onion" of poor journalism because you suspect that their writers exaggerate.

The parody threads would be more annoying if there was actually something to discuss. There isn't. People are very excited about this project, and what they have to talk about are things like "a fan saw the ship and doesn't like it," or "I just made up that the new ship has wings," or "here are some pictures of people on set wearing robes to hide their costumes." There's little place for that nervous energy to go. So we get Cog blogged. ;)

Set valves to release Mr. Cog.

The section you have bolded refers to make individual posts within a thread that don't relate to thread topic. Which is what you and I are guilty of right now.
Pesonally, I enjoy the things that Sam brings to this forum

agreed. (and I'm getting my gas mask)

Cogley, you bastard, you didn't say SPOILER in the headline! You just ruined this movie for me.

I'm boycotting the Internet, starting with the thread...after I have a hissy fit.

That first! :scream:

 In what way is a statement that the producer and director of a film has seen something in the film, and commented on it, disguised as news? This disguise is pretty thin, especially considering how closely it conforms to the template of another thread. The obvious tells, from the thread title, that it is a parody are:

1) Specifying that Abrams is from Lost, which is irrelevant if humourous clarification.
2) Specifying that Abrams is the source of "leak" at all, which should be an automatic giveaway.
3) Closely following the pattern of another topic, which, if this thread is parody disguised as news, is news disguisoed as parody.
4) Making a point to note that he has seen it, which should go without saying.
5) The phrasing also implies creates a sort of clandestine atmosphere around the revelation, which adds to the joke, it being such a non-starter.

There's some overlap, but you get the picture. Obviously a parody from the word go.

In any event, there's nothing wrong with these threads, and it's probably as newsworthy as half of the real threads on the board. Your complaint is without merit.

Indeed. It's like titling a thread "Jesus Christ Returns To Earth, Endorses Virtuous Living."

Except, of course, that's not clever or funny. Never mind.
