J/7 Shippers

Fought and lost or did I blink?

http://www.trektoday.com/news/110802_01.shtml

Is Geordi who he was referring to as Handicapped?

HA! "There will finally be gay Star Trek characters in Enterprise!"

I'm not sure what's worse?

1. That there were no Gay characters in Star Trek Enterprise despite her rosy prospectus of the future made in 2002.

2. Mulgrew has never watched Deep Space Nine. She doesn't know that that series is riddled with homos. How ignorant of Deep Space Nine was she? Considering her age/profession she's not exactly in the demographic, and considering how busy Kate was/is, she's probably above watching TV, which makes all her comments about the uplifting qualities of Star Trek/TV in general quite empty. If Kate was a more spiteful, paranoid person, she would have watched every episode of Deep Space Nine, acknowledged that it was a superior show and then done some thing about Voyager until it was at least as good as Deep Space Nine.

But that didn't happen. :(

To answer the original question, i'm a j7er. I even have the tshirt to prove it. In 2006 when www.janewayseven.com was really big they had t shirts made. A few of us bought them and wore them to the Vegas convention that year which Kate attended. Sadly that message board is now offline.

yeah, I saw it as a "Borg do not sit." getting used to it. Ahhh...perception.
Caterina that Omega Directive scene is one of our favorites and in almost every j7 video out there. Having said that, if i take my J7 glasses off i can totally see your perspective.
I'm almost afraid to ask what you see at the end of Voyager Conspiracy ;)

Does anyone know what episode that was where she looked like she had a :censored: eating grin was seven walked out?
Janeway has a certain grin a lot when it comes to Seven but you may be talking about the last ready room scene with Seven from Collective.

From quotes I've read from Mulgrew in the Advocate (gay news magazine) a long time ago, I'm pretty sure she's aware there weren't gays on DS9. I couldn't speak with any certainty what she knows about Enterprise. I'd think if she ever tried to watch that the lube rub downs they gave each other all the time - heterosexual only, of course! - that would've turned her off the show.
I can't say it did much for my opinion of the show.

Mulgrew's quote I was drawing from was from the First days of Enterprise.

I googled "gay characters on Enterprise" with Google, and the top result at the head of the page was "Is Reed gay or British, I can't tell the difference."

I can imagine someone at every convention Mulgrew goes to asking "Why is Voyager so much more homophobic than Deep Space Nine?"

I think from what she's said and what we've seen of her life she likes sex and men just fine. She is just repulsed by porn and has no reason to change her view of that. When someone pornifies what she sees as her work (a character) it pisses her off and she finds reasons for being pissed off ("baser instincts"). She finds an explanation and she sticks to it.

Now me, I've watched all this Star Trek stuff so many times that I want to pornify the whole damn thing. Out of frustration with Trek writers being fail at relationships. Frustration with NO GAY characters in their supposed boldly going 28 seasons in 5 different series. Frustration with the sterilized feel to lots of it, something that gets more ludicrous when held up next to other tv which manages to be sexy even when never showing sex.

K/S popped into my head pre-internet when I was 13 years old. I thought it was an original idea!! I mean, it seemed obvious on the screen. They had chemistry, they loved each other, they were willing to die for each other. It was a greater romance than all of Kirk's girls and he didn't have Spock on a pedestal like Edith Keeler.

Look how quickly people abandoned ship to paddle to J/7. it might be because j/C didn't happen and we are looking for that fix or we as outside observers can see possibility there's someone better suited for her emotionally. can anyone say maybe they got hasty pushing?
Hasty pushing? I was never on the C ship, it never felt like a great romance full of underlying desire and tension. She got on with him, she fancied him a bit, in another life she might have given it a go and that was something she was very aware of. But this wasn't another life. She wasn't going to do any dating (!!!). Which is what the gentlemanly Chak was angling at.

Meanwhile she ADORED 7 and 7 was unfolding slowly like the beautiful damaged human she was under the warmth of Janeway's adoration. There was a whole lot between them, whatever you want to call it the emotions were powerful. It becomes an integral part of both their stories even as Chak is just sitting there, being friendly and dutiful and not changing in any real way.

Yep!

OMG I did too, Teacake! I was 7 years old watching reruns of course because I was born in the 80's, but even *I saw the K/S thing and I thought I had an original idea. haha. I also picked up on Tom and Harry and I had no idea people might be gay but I thought why not? I didn't appreciate the point and purpose of reproduction yet of course. I just thought everyone needed love-damn gender barriers.

I want to see that t-shirt!
Mine is unfortunately in storage, but i did a quick search and cafepress still offers it for sale 8 years later!

Not a very original design but we all wore it to the convention proudly.

Being fully clothed is hardly a challenge.

so, just imagine this lanky guy finally would have said:
Ms. Mulgrew, may i shake your hand? :rommie:

when he reads that secret logs of misstress janeway (they are really bad written, cheap, a shame Kate did not get a better fanfic on her doorstep) he for sure he shaked HIS hand enough.

For fun i googeled for weired fanfics and found a nice website, which makes fun of such "art"

I really admire how she rips into the questioner and calls him on his "apology".
