The most hilarious throwaway gag, in the opening sequence that sped over the Christmas break: The district attorney's name is Baracus. That's right -- D.A. Baracus. I pity the fool who takes him on in court.
I love it that, in addition to all the meta stuff about a zombie TV show, they threw in a nod to Rose McIver's past as a Power Ranger. But her line was a bit odd -- "I don't think he has the range for Blue." I couldn't figure out what that was referring to. The most famous Blue Ranger, David Yost in the original Mighty Morphin', was easily the worst actor in the main cast. McIver's Blue co-star in RPM was a perfectly okay actor, but hardly a standout among what was surely the most talented cast in Power Rangers history (whose alumni include not only McIver, but Jessica Jones's Eka Darville and Reign's Adelaide Kane). The Blue Ranger in the current Dino Charge season is literally a caveman. Other infamous Blue Rangers include the annoying preteen Justin in Turbo and the likeable but notoriously underutilized Madison in Mystic Force (whose only focus episode was basically about how rarely she got to do much of anything). The only really standout actor to have worn blue in the franchise's history is probably Archie Kao from Lost Galaxy, who went on to become a CSI regular. But then, maybe that was the joke -- that the Blue Rangers are not known for being impressive, so saying someone didn't have the range for Blue would be a grave insult indeed.
I was annoyed by the direction and editing in the scene where Liv and Clive were interviewing the hearing-impaired cast member. The camera spent more time focusing on the sign-language interpreter than on the person she was interpreting for. When someone is speaking through an interpreter like that, it's rude to focus on the interpreter instead of them.
