I've took an overdose

I've overdosed on tablets. I've been popping Strepsils, Multi vitamin & mineral tablets, dissolvable vitamin c tablets, Ibuprofen tablets, Migraine tablets and antacids all day today and all day yesterday.

I think i'm in trouble. :(

How many in total? Because if it's less than the recommended doses, and you're not feeling any worse, don't worry about it. Just go easier on them. See a doctor or go to A&E if you're feeling worse. Or don't, your choice.

What about laxatives. how many of them did you take? I'm just wondering what is a safe distance to keep :p

But seriously, what's this about Tachyon? Is this attempted self harm with "relatively safe" medicines?

Will you tell me what's wrong? :)

I've got the cold and when I have the cold I just take everything I can to try and take the pain and suffering away. ;)

I've taken all the stated doses and all that but I don't think it's a good idea to mix painkillers (they're very strong ones with Lysine in) with double strength strepsils and then to start drinking 5 glasses of fruit smoothies and a glass of dissolvable 1000mg vit c tabs and then having to take a couple of antacids because the fruit smoothies have made my stomach acid go mental. Then on top of that popping a multi vit and mineral tab.
I have started to feel dizzy on occasion but I don't know if that's the cold or the pill popping.

I've read that you can only take one of a certain type of medicine, like only Ibuprofen and no other pain killer and that if you take 2 every 4 hours but don't take more than 8 in 24hrs then you should be okay. But it sounds likeyou took a painkiller as well as migraine pill which I don't think should be mixed, if I understand right what the warning labels say.

As long as you're not mixing Ibuprofen with other NSAIDs, paracetamol with other things that contain paracetamol, or multiple different opoids all together ou should be fine.

You are still posting, so just dont take any more and you should be fine. :)

Chemicals only help in small amounts, the effect is probably not accumulating if you start stuffing pills. So now you have to ask the question: What is more annoying: that cold or feeling worried about taking an overdose? :)

With all due respect to other posters here, this is NOT the place to go to for medical help. Call a pharmacist, poison control or a doctor. Don't rely on the internet.

That's right Crewman. It is well known in pharmacology that a 50%/50% mixture of two medicines can be far more powerful (or dangerous) than single 100% dose of one medicine.

Afaik, when medicines are licensed for use, they're not normally tested in combination with any other medicine. They're tested individually.

But if a pill contains more than one drug, then that hasn't necessarily been tested for the safety of it's combined effect. There are licences granted for each separate component if proven safe when taken on its own, but the license for the combined drug is granted automatic, even if the combination happens to be harmful !

Furthermore, when you get prescription medicines, they often list stuff that you're not supposed to take with it because of such reactions (contraindications). But in my experience, doctors don't pay any attention to it, even though they're supposed to.

Because the first thing you want to do when you think you've overdosed is talk about it on a message board.

Have you no faith in technology??? This is the 21st Century. There's a Blackberry thread in TNZ where people are all a twitter over how that somehow makes a big difference in life now.

If I'm prescribed things without due care... Well that matters to me :) It undermines my trust in those who are supposed to know what they're doing.
