I've never played a Star Trek game. Where should I start and what games should I look out for?

Many years ago I played Elite Force 2, perfect game, very good. The best have been the multiplayer-rounds.....hach, good old times

How much difference is there between the PC and NES version of 25th Anniversary? I only had the latter.

They are completely different games that happen to have the same title. I believe they also had identical box art. No resemblance at all otherwise. There was also a third game, released for the Game Boy, with the same title and (yes indeed) the same box art.

I never quite understood why Paramount thought that was a good idea, but video game marketing was still very young at the time, and multiplatform releases of different-but-related games was somewhat common for other properties (like Toy Story).

The NES game, from my dim memories of it, was not fun. But I was a very wee lad indeed the last time I touched it.

The Game Boy game was fine, if surprisingly difficult, but didn't quite capture the sense of Star Trek.

The PC game was really pretty good.

Thanks for clearing that up. I enjoyed the NES game though. It wasn't the best game and you mainly solved puzzles, but you have to hand it to them for at least trying to create an experience that felt like Star Trek. At the time, and especially on NES, it was much more likely they'd just turn it into a crappy side-scrolling shooter that had nothing at all to do with the show. I'd forgotten I have played the Strategic Operation Simulator on Atari 2600. It's pretty cool for an Atari game but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to the OP. Because it's an Atari game after all, unless you like retro gaming OP. And I mean REALLY retro.

I really liked The Fallen, and I wish they had done more with it... expansion packs, multi-player missions, etc. Now I want to go find a used disc on ebay.

You may like the single player mod "Convergence". One of the Fallen's original level designers was involved with it.
