I've made contact!

Im curious Warped9, have the two of you talked via webcam yet?:)

And about being careful...well,its true that its prudent but being suspicious too much can be a bad thing also:vulcan:
In Finland, from where im from, some people have bad ideas about Russian women, like that they are after your money and so so. I had to face that, when I met a Russian woman few years ago, who lived in Moscow, on a dating site. Some of my friends warned me then about russian women and so on:rolleyes: It didint lead to romance but we became good friends and we still keep in touch.
There are valid reasons why some Russian women want a foreign man. Many russian men have big problems with alchohol and so on:shifty:
She has a pretty cool profession and im pretty sure her income is quite good. Im not sure how common female lawyers are in Russia:)
The fact that shes playful towards you is a good sign, it means she likes you:cool:
And I have a feeling that we europeans are generally bit more open about our sexuality, in someways anyway. And yes, eastern and central European women are very beautiful:drool:
And since we are in the topic of Russian women, I happened to have couple of clips from RussiaToday..about women and high heels( im impressed how they can run like that:eek: )

Russian women dress to impress whatever the weather:

Sorry about the long post all, I guess I got bit carried away:lol:

I didn't mean for it to sound like I'm suspicious and that it's in the forefront of my mind. I simply meant I was aware of the possibility of people with ulterior motives, no more and no less than when dealing with people in my own backyard.

I well aware of why many Russian and Ukrainian women are interested in western men, including the fact that over there women outnumber men in the population. As I said in another post I have a friend who has a lot of background on Russia and I've also read up on some of it myself.

True, there are many beautiful women there, but so have we here. I think the distinction is grooming and personal style as a partial reflection of culture. Over here personal grooming and style is more casual and to some extent unisex to the point where often you might not notice how attractive a woman (or man) may be because of the overly casual "dressing down" so many practice.

I also wonder about other things such as how they eat generally and how much physical activity they get on average as compared to those in our society. You look around at your fellow citizens here and you see a lot of people with shitty eating habits eating way too much crap and driving everywhere even if it's only down the block. And many of our kids could be even worse off because they're parked in front of the TV or computer screen for hours on end instead of outside running and riding their bikes around like their parents and grandparents used to do.

Making the assumption that romance does start and grows more serious. Yeah, a big assumption I know. If she's a lawyer there, would she want to move away? Or, would you move there?

I'm sure you haven't thought that far ahead yet, but something to keep in mind.

Mr Awe

Actually, in a light way, that's already come up. And it's pretty well understood that I have no intention of leaving Canada. And she has ruminated about what she would have to do if she came here. If she were from the UK or Australia or the US and were moving to Canada then it wouldn't be such a big transition. But the legal system in the Russian Federation and Canada are quite different and she couldn't just start off with her existing credentials. She would have to learn our system.

What if she likes Voyager?
I'll cross that bridge if and when I come to it. Of course, loving someone does mean accepting imperfections and failings.

And so I'm sticking my foot in it. This evening I wrote her about what I'm thinking. I have four weeks vacation coming to me this year. I mightn't take all four weeks, but I've never traveled abroad before and I've certainly never been to Europe. And so I told her that I'm just beginning to plan my vacation for the summer, a time when I'm more likely to have pleasant weather. I told her, rather than meet her in Barnaul, Russia (her home) that perhaps we could meet in a more neutral place (and easy for her to travel to) such as St. Petersburg or Istanbul or France or Germany. In the meantime I can save money and put some things in order and do a bit of shopping.

Of course it also gives us sufficient time to continue corresponding via messaging, email, chat and phone to continue getting to know each other.

Good plan Warped9:bolian:
There should be daily flights from Barnaul to Moscow and St.Petersburg, so that part of your plan is very sound, also:cool:
