I've Been Accepted!

Wow, I'm quite impressed that a person is so open about his faith and conviction. I'm even more impressed that he made the decision with the help of people in here. Nice....

If at all possible, please post a link to your first sermon. I would love to hear it. May God continue to guide you and bless you, Maestro.

And Trekker4747, I guess it's time to stop being a jerk to you. Peace, man.
And they ask me why I am opposed to organized religion...

:p
For whatever reason, I've been far too harsh with and far too mean to Trekker for the past few years. I should have knocked it off awhile back. This is as good an opportunity as any other. Best to take advantage of it myself. And if he's unwilling to forgive, well that's his prerogative, I certainly couldn't fault him.

More seriously. I wish you happiness in your endeavour, Maestro. You are one of the good ones. ;)

Thank you, and thank you all for the kind words and support. The journey to this point has taken me 11 years. I'd like to think I'm coming into the home stretch, but it's only just beginning.

Congatulations, Maestro. Having been down the path you are about to travel, I can tell you it was worth every minute.

I love your signature line. If only most Christians would live by its words...

Every happiness to you Maestro. I'm coming up on 18 years in ministry and they have been surprising, humbling, affirming, consoling, challenging and truly blessed years.

I wish the same for you. :techman:

Congratulations, Maestro. And if you have a wife, tell her I'll keep her in my prayers, too.

Followers of Jesus are generally not mocked or derided on TrekBBS. Christians who tend to only regurgitate the Pauline Epistles, choice Levitican laws, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah usually are. I've never felt a need to remain silent about my beliefs, nor have I ever felt like I was being attacked for them. Although, that said, I'd rather witness my beliefs through my actions rather than my words. And believe it or not, there are some very holy people on TrekBBS who witness similarly.

If at all possible, please post a link to your first sermon. I would love to hear it.
I have given two in my short life. One was to be the eulogy for my wife's aunt, a person of strong conviction but little religious expression. Unfortunately, her funeral service was at a fundamentalist-style church, and its pastor's approach was going to be totally inappropriate. I used the eulogy to give the proper funeral sermon.

The second sermon I gave was on 12/26/10. The feast and scriptures were about the Holy Innocents, while the lesser feast was St. Stephen, and even in America we know that 12/26 is Boxing Day. I gave a horrendous lecture on giving, God's plan, and sacrifice. I don't even want to think about how unprepared and humbled I was after that experience.

May God continue to guide you and bless you, Maestro.
And you as well.

And again, thank you to all for the kind words of support.

Somehow missed this thread when it was first posted. Well done Maestro; I hope it's a fulfilling choice for you!

Thanks, man. I'll be coming to you for help on ordering tasteful vestments when the time comes.
