I've Been Accepted!

Maestro

Vice Admiral

A few of you have given me guidance and support about a possible call to ministry. I am pleased to report that I passed my entrance interviews and was formally admitted to Candidacy for Ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), or as my Grandmother calls us, the "loose Lutherans."

I'll be a seminarian on the "five year plan," studying part time for two years, studying full time for a year, doing a one year internship, and then studying full time for a final year.

My thanks to J. Allen, Timby, FatherRob, and all those who gave me support and advice. And my thanks to CleverWombat, too, but I'm not saying why.

And Trekker4747, I guess it's time to stop being a jerk to you. Peace, man.

I'm very, very happy for you, Maestro. You're an awesome dude, and not seeing you on a semi-frequent basis is one of the most-missed aspects of my former life in the Tri-State area.

"God, I offer myself to Thee--to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always."

Though that's from a very different book than the one which you study, when I say that prayer tonight, I'll think of you. And I'll ask my mother-in-law, who is a pastor in the United Church of Christ, to pray for you. :)

"Loose Lutherans." Having cast away the fetters of a strict Missouri Synod Lutheran upbrining, I find that discription of ELCA both hillarious and complementary.

Congratulations, and good luck on your calling.

Gratz.

As a Lutheran you can appreciate the historical reference in wearing a Martin Luther Halloween costume.

Just for you Maestro, today, I'm wearing my collars double popped.

Congratulations. Lutherans rock!

I still think the Methodists have a cooler logo, though.

That is quite an achievement, and it's a big undertaking in the next few years as you continue to work toward your goal. You have good principles, making you an ideal clergy someday. Congratulations and good luck.

As soon as I read that, I was thinking "Okay, now does that make her Missouri Synod or Wisconsin?"
