I've always wanted to do it and i finally DID!!!!

Yeoman Randi

Vice Admiral
Admiral
As some of you know, for the past 30+ years i've wanted to get a Star Trek tattoo. My husband told me early on that a- i had to quit smoking and
b- NO tattoos!
So, to keep the peace, i quit smoking and never got that tattoo. Giving up smoking was no biggie. I knew i had to do that. But the tattoo.....

That's been something i never stopped thinking about and never stopped wanting.

The last three years we've seen a lot of sad things happen, including the loss of my 20 yr old nephew and the loss of a dear friend's 18 year old son. And so, when the conversation recently once again turned to 'that star trek tattoo' my husband said, "I've come to the conclusion that life is too short. If you really want it, go for it".

And i did. In record time. So, yesterday, i got the tattoo that i have wanted for 30+ years. It was quick and relatively painless. It felt like bee stings and was no biggie. I am so happy with it! I love it and i feel like it's a dream come true!!! I am happy to share this with you!!!

And so, here are pictures of my brand new Star Trek tattoo (yes, this could go under the "I'm so geeky" thread)...and i ask you ....

Is there anything that YOU have wanted to do and you finally did it? OR is there something that you want to do but still haven't gotten the courage to do it?

Congratulations. :bolian: It's very nice-- subtle, understated, yet still quite geeky. :D

And kudos to your husband, too. That was very nice of him. :)

Very nice. :bolian:

I have always wanted to get the \S/(Superman Logo) tattooed on my chest.

I was expecting this to be about something completely different. Boy, am I disappointed.

Nice tat though Randi. I'm glad you finally got to do it and that you're happy with the result.

Thanks you guys!

Propita, actually, throughout the years i thought that if i ever did get it, it would be on my chest as if it were on a shirt. But over the last couple of weeks while i was waiting for the appt to come around i thought about other places to put it. I considered my wrist (inside and out), the back of my shoulder, between my shoulder blades and on my chest. I decided i wanted it to be where i could see it all the time, so that meant no back tats. I decided the wrist might be painful (buck buck buck ba-gack!), and i wanted to be able to see it while clothed, which crossed off the chest. And, heh, some people suggested a place that might not be too....saggy down the line.

I gotta say, i am 100% happy with the whole thing, the size, placement, coloring (i don't know if you can tell in the pictures yet, but the inside is an ochra color). Really, i couldn't be happier! I've been on cloud nine since yesterday! :)

nice! i would have gotten it on the "correct" place but that's just me. anyway i've always been a big fan of star trek tattoos since a friend of mine wanted to get trill spots but she backed out the night before. i don't blame her though, i doubt i would have done something that extensive. i'm getting a cross on my right shoulder and a short tattoo on my arm that says "Magyar gyártmány." roughly translates into "Made in Hungary".

Congratulations, Yeoman Randi, it looks really good on you! :D
I've always wanted to get a tattoo myself, but I change my mind so often I could never settled on one design.

It looks fantastic! Congratulations, Randi :D

I think on your arm is actually a better place than your chest - which while being the right place would probably look a bit odd as a tattoo.

Nice! :techman:

I always wanted a tattoo. But I could never settle on a design. Finally, I just gave up on the idea.

Well, if you've wanted it for that long then I doubt you'll regret getting it. Which is the only downside I can see to getting a tatoo.

Very nice tatoo.

That's a great tattoo, YR. :) It's just the right size- noticeable but understated. Quite striking in its simplicity. And I'm so glad you finally did something you've long been wanting to. Good for you! :)

Congrats :techman:. It looks really nice.

I've got two tattoos on my back. They are rather large, so everybody told me that I was crazy when I got them. I'm not so pleased with the shadings on one of my tattoos but other than that I never had regrets.

In a couple of years the color will fade so it might be that you have to renew the tattoo. It helps if you protect it from too much sunlight, e.g. by putting suncream on.

I had a weird dream a while ago that I got a Trek tattoo. It was the TOS arrowhead, but in metallic blue and black (like the advertising for last year's movie), and on my inside right forearm just below the elbow. As I recall I was quite pleased with it in dreamworld.

I don't quite love Star Trek enough to get one for real, though :p

Yours looks nice, Randi! Congrats :)

Yippee! Congratulations! :D

I think you know the thing I just did that I've wanted to do for a long time. ;)

Watching that video made every inch of skin cringe and hurt.

Congrats on that tat... I guess. :) Cool design to pick, though! :techman:
