ITV are producing an adaptation of The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher
I heard a lot of good things about the book, but didn't really get in to it when I tried reading it. So I guess I'll check this out.British actor Paddy Considine will star in a new Hat Trick Productions drama adaptation for UK terrestrial broadcaster ITV.
Considine (Dead Man's Shoes, Bourne Ultimatum, Red Riding Trilogy) will play 19th century police inspector Jonathan Whicher in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher (1x120'), based on a novel by Kate Summerscale.
Set in 1860 in a quiet English village and based on a true story, the story revolves around the murder of a three-year-old boy at the stately Rode Hill House. It's being shot on location around London in October, and BBC Worldwide is attached for international distribution.
Hat Trick's Mark Redhead is exec producing, with James Hawes (DCI Banks: Aftermath) directing. ITV's director of drama commissioning Laura Mackie and controller of drama commissioning Sally Haynes jointly ordered the feature.
