iTunes question

Has anyone else had this happen? When I logged into the iTunes store last night, I had 4.95 USD store credit. I bought one single, solitary song for 99 cents. My store credit immediately dropped from 4.95 to 0.09 USD. Say what?! :wtf:

Yes, I've contacted iTunes support. So far, their response has been next to useless -- but wordy and flowery enough to be worthy of a Bollywood movie. (To give credit where credit is due, they did solve a related problem.)

It correctly lists the 99 cent purchase. Nothing else in months. The emailed receipt was correct, too.

I usually buy music on my phone. Sometimes, if I log into iTunes on a desktop/laptop, it gives me my balance from months ago. It'll take a few minutes to sync up.

Thanks, MOTW! That's it! My last purchase was $3.87 (the amount of the discrepancy) for ringtones. This must've been the first time I've logged into iTunes on the iMac since then. And since I bought the song asap after I logged in, it synced and deducted the new purchase all at once. :)

Look into getting a ringtone maker, if you are on a Mac there is a bunch of good free ones; they allow you to make as many ringtones, and of exactly the part of the song you want, for free.

Hmm. You recommend any one in particular? I usually use the same couple of ringtones for months/years at a time, but making my own does sound like fun.

I use Ringer:

Looks like its $5 now, I think I got it for free on some promotion. In any case, its pretty handy, and if you regularly spend money on ring tones then I recommend it because like I said, it lets you pick the start and end point of your tones so you can get exactly the bit of the song you want.
