At least so The Weather Channel tells me about why we have winter here in the U.S. (LINK).

We've seen thread here over the years about trying to stop hurricanes, seed clouds, etc, so I wondered ... hypothetically ... what could the U.S. do to alter the flow and bypass much (but not all) the terrible winter coldness (and where would it then strike as a result)?

Besides nuclear bombs like the hurricane idea some folks pas about (I'd like a reasonable winter, not a nuclear winter).

Why do we have to alter the path of weather, why not just put on some thicker jackets and grit our teeth through the cold.

Back in the 70s the John Birch Society blamed the CHINESE for the drought that affected California and several Western states from 1976 to 1977, in both those years the Chinese detonated high altitude thermonuclear devices just under the Jet Stream at Lop-Nor...according to the Society, these detonations triggered a shift in the Jet Stream's position, causing a short term severe drought on the Pacific coast states...

I think the Chinese bombs actually had very little to do with it...
