So what makes a successful thread in TBBS?

I reckon it's the ones with over 10% of replies to views.

This is just a vague observation, no doubt peeps with more time on there hands will come back with more facts...

But what does make a good thread? The title, the subject, the poster? What makes you look, reply and mostly ~ follow it?

So what makes a successful thread in TBBS?

That's totally subjective. Sometimes a thread is successful simply because someone learns something or they have a question that is answered. It might be successful because a lot of people reply and get to know more about one another. Or, one of my favorite types of threads is the one that stirs up trouble! You know, the kind that's ten pages long by the time you even see it and just the title itself would be enough to offend half of Misc. Those are always fun.

Replies alone don't make a good thread to me. Personally, I hate most of the ones about bodily functions. Whether or not I look at a thread has to do with the title of the thread, the original poster, or the people I see posting in the thread. Replying is really random for me as I usually don't have anything significant to add.

If a thread is long (4 pages or more) by the time I see it, I probably won't reply. I never sleep, and I live on my computer, though, so that rarely happens.

For me, a successful thread is one that generates discussion, even if that is discussion that you weren't necessarily expecting as the original poster.
