It was all a misunderstanding....

Eh I know right wing chicks are way too uptight...it can be pretty difficult to get them to open up the back door even if you're a conservative yourself, much less a dem and an active supporter at that.

Seriously though...creeper move, no doubt. I'm not sure why you even knew her door was locked for one thing...do houses not have doorbell? But to step back even further...that any of this seemed like a good idea at all raises questions.

Thank you for the replies. I meant no harm at all. I realize I was extremely naive and didn't realize that I was probably doing something that I shouldn't have.

There was no malice behind the intentions at all but now I've learned some valuable lessons.

I thought "hey I'm back in the neighborhood why not drop by and say hi?"

The front screen door was locked I didn't know if she heard me(her dog seemed to) so I tried the back door like the first time.

I didn't expect the second time to be so jarring.

I thought a facebook friend request was a smaller step getting to know her instead of just jumping to asking her out.

I wouldn't ask a stranger to be my facebook friend, especially without any mutual friends.

And it's beyond me why you checked the doorknob. What if it wasn't unlocked. Would you have entered the house? Some people get shot that way. And the back door. I thiink this is way past being native. I knew that was wrong when I was five.

That's the creepiest thing I've read in a long time. No wonder she called the cops. You actually tried the door? Then went round the back?

1. Strike the "probably." There's no question that you were doing something that you shouldn't have.

2. You shouldn't have gone to the back door the first time, unless you live someplace where everyone uses the back door for everything, and it's pretty clear that you don't.

3. Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

4. BTW, you did do something well in all this: you were canvassing for the right party.

I have suspicions that the OP was familiar with the area and woman beforehand. Usually you canvas in an area that you are familiar with. It's also not standard procedure to go to a back door if they don't respond at the front door. So, that was his own innitiative and probably because he had already seen her. Shoot, he most likely wanted to contact her for some time and this gave him the reason to go to her house and he had the motivation to go take the extra steps, too far.

I'm not suggesting he had any bad intent, but I think he went to that house with the intent to definitely contact her specifically. It provided that extra motivation that drove him passed the line of acceptable behavior.

Having said all that, his response in this thread was mature and it seems like he's learned his lesson.

Mr Awe

It's a guess. Not saying they knew each other at all, just that he probably saw her around from the distance, thought she was hot, and figured this was a way to meet her. He knew she was home so wasn't going to take a non-answer!

He probably lives in the neighborhood. His post is filled with the implication that he lives nearby.

Mr Awe

Doesn't make it any less creepy. All that means is that he's been stalking her for a much longer period of time.

^^ I'm not. In fact, I think he went there with no sinister motivations and I said as much in this thread. All I'm saying is that I think he went to this house with the extra motivation of speaking to her personally. That's all. It explains a lot. I don't think it was a sinister motivation at all.

Mr Awe

What are you trying to say? You are starting to sound like you are defending him, as if having no sinister motivation makes it okay. People have gotten murdered for non-sinister motivations.

No one's saying his actions were okay, relax.

^I know. I'm just not sure what Mr. Awe was trying to say.

Give me a break. He shouldn't have done what he did. He went too far. But, I don't think he went there with bad motivations, just very bad judgement. Got it?

And, just as a guess, I think he had a reason (doesn't make it ok) for his impaired judgement. He knew a hot chick lived there. No, doesn't make it ok. Hope that is clear for you now.

Mr Awe

I don't live in the area where she lives. I was just assigned a another neighborhood close to where she lived for my second to last day.

And no, we do know canvass in areas we're familiar. We go all over.

And Mr. Awe you're right. The first time I knocked on the back door did not have her answering "please don't knock on my backdoor"

If it had happened the first time then I wouldn't have tried the second time. I would have just knocked on the outer front glass door then walked away.

There was no doorbell

It was bad judgment on my part and i'm devastated that I blew any chance of seeing her forever.

So i've been out canvassing for the democratic party since October 8th

On October 13th I was assigned the 33rd,34th,35th,36th streets. On 35th street I met this woman. Her name was Stefanie. She seemed nice but it turns out she was a Republican. I had to knock on the back door to talk to her.

On November 1st I was assigned the University neighborhood. I realized I was close to where Stefanie lived. I thought i'd stop by and say Hi. I was hoping she might accept a facebook friend request too.

Around 8:00 pm I dropped by her house. Her front door was locked but the lights were on. I knocked a few times then tried the back door like last time. When she answered the door she was annoyed "Please don't knock on my door" and told me she still wouldn't vote for the democratic party. I was stunned and couldn't say anything but "Never mind"

I left but wrote a short apology saying "I'm sorry for disturbing you but I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to say hi. I was hoping we could be friends on facebook"

12:15 am I receive a phone call from an officer. He said that Stefanie was a little shaken up by the encounter. The officer said she got my apology and accepted it.

I'm not allowed to contact her by phone or computer now

Makes me wonder what would MadBaggins do?
