It seems there is a reason for the visual reboot and the producers aren't being honest about it.

I think the new Klingon makeup is garbage but what does a makeup design have to do with the canon status of everything preceding it? That's just ridiculous to be kind. You can have California Raisin Klingons with lockjaw in DSC and still have Augment Klingons that look a lot more human in ENT and then later in TOS.

Presumably it happened for the same reason Universal Coordinated Time is just re-branded Greenwich Mean Time. Someplace has to be 1. And since the other Federation powers seem to have accomodated to the Earth Starfleet, it makes sense to use their convention on the charts. (I wasn't a huge fan of ENT establishing this, but since Starfleet always seems to be majority-human, it's a defensible decision.)
The offices of the Federation President, the chamber of the Federation Council and Starfleet Command are all located on Earth so it appears that the signatories of the Federation Charter in 2161 agreed that since Earth played such a leading role in both the stabilization of the Alpha Quadrant and the war against the Romulans in the years leading up to the formation of the UFP that it should be the "capital" planet and location of the key governmental and defensive agencies.

I still recall in 2001 fans claiming they stopped watching "Broken Bow" after a few mins because it featured a ridged forehead Klingon. One wonders if they got a heart attack just watching the trailer for Discovery.
I remember that too. It didn’t stop them bitching about the rest of the series. They didn’t like an awful lot about a series weren’t watching, in great detail.
I can tell you a great deal about the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and New England Patriots even though I'm not a fan of any of them. I am a Miami Dolphins fan. Being a Star Trek fan, I can tell you a great deal about Discovery even though I didn't finish the show.
I take a greater interest when something is directly connected to something I love. Even if it is garbage.
Fair point. I have no love for the reboot movies, but I watched them anyway, and moaned about the bits that grate. I stop short though, of claiming to be through with it when I know darned well I'll be back to watch anything with Star Trek in the title.
Ah, but do you go to forums of those other teams fan sites to tell them just how garbage they are?
I do plan on giving Discovery another chance to wow me next season. Though it does have a shorter rope than the first season had.

My boards usually have a separate section where there are far fewer rules regarding trash talking. Kind of like TNZ here but sports shit talk. lol.
