It had to be...you!

My dad. He was a Trekkie back in college in the 70s. We saw the last four movies together, so I expect to do the same this time.

I hate packed theaters (but I do like a theater with a "good crowd"), so I probably won't see it until the Saturday or Sunday Matinee.

I will be seeing it with my wife and hopefully with my 14-year old daughter -- However, being a 14-year old girl, she will most likely create a huge drama about not wanting to see it -- especially if she thinks that I want her to see it with me.

I'm having the same problem with my teenaged kids. I wish I had shut up and never expressed any enthusiasm about this movie because now, since mom wants them to go see it, they have to rebel and say they don't want to see it. Hopefully their teen peers do like it and then they will go see it. Oh those peer pressure teen years when parents know nothing and are mega nerds. But come to think of it, as Trekkies maybe we are kinda nerdy.

I'll probably go with my husband, but not on the first day.

I'm sure most people who see the film in theaters will be guys. TREK skews fairly heavily towards young to middle-aged males so I'm not going to be shocked if I walk into the theater this May and see many more dudes than ladies.

in the past? I would agree with you. But I have a funny feeling, like the Dark Knight, JJ is going to try to market this to women...that is why CHRIS PINE is doing his best TOM CRUISE (think Top Gun) bit.....

Had he not passed, I'd go with my Dad too... but he'll be with me in spirit.

But I'd hope my son would go see it with me...:)

My fiance hates Star Trek with a passion, but I was able to convince her to go see the new movie with me. By that time, she'll be just about to pop (she's pregnant), so our firstborn will be exposed to Trek whilst still in the womb... As it should be.

I was exposed to Trek in-utero. I was drawing crude toddler sketches of Spock and the Enterprise and watching TOS reruns as early as one to three years old.

sad as i am i'm going alone so i can concentrate on the movie. Then i may go with friends the next day so i can watch for what i missed the first time.

Most likely I'm going to see the movie with some of my old college friends.

hubs wants to go see it on IMAX 1st night - did I pick a winner or what!!!!! maybe can wheedle 20yr old son to see it too - have no qualms about seeing it by myself over and over and over again though - have seen many movies by myself and not that sad a thing to do - fewer distractions! besides - brother laughed when I cried at Spock's death - better to go alone than with a non-believer!

yep. I suspect that if it's that good, I'll be seeing it again and again, and some of those repeat watchings I'll be doing alone.

I will see it at Midnight, and I'll be taking about 20 of my students with me. Showed them the trailer and the general reaction was "we've got to go see that" This from 14-18 year old high school students. I hope this movie sticks the landing because it will set up a whole new generation of fans.

I have a tentative date set to see it the first weekend if my close buddy and his wife can make the trip up from Florida. If not, I'll ask my closest buds here in my own hometown.

I have a good, not-single friend that everyone thinks I'm dating who is going with me... somehow, I doubt that this will help the rumors any!

I haven't thought about this really. My friend Dan from work and I have gone to see numerous movies together over the past 2 years. But we almost always go on a weeknight (we did see Spidey 3 on opening night). I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait past Sunday of opening weekend though. ;) As noted in another thread I'll be vacationing in Arizona on premiere day.
