ISO files/Windows Vista

Okay, I'm confused, which should be surprising when it comes to computers. :p

For many years, I have used the program DVD Shrink to back up personal DVD projects. It's worked great. It's easy. Loved it. DVD Shrink basically rips DVDs into a ISO file.

Now, I recently got a new laptop (love OpenOffice, btw) and I decided to install DVD Shrink onto it. For whatever reason, when I try to use the program, my computer refuses to make ISO files and I have no idea why. My OS is Windows Vista, so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it. It reads the DVD and when I try to get it to backup, it claims that it "encountered an error and cannot continue", "the specified folder is invalid" and that "Access is Denied".

I messed with other ISO-creating programs and it comes up with pretty much the same thing.

Any idea on what I might be doing wrong?

maybe you need to choose a different "save to" folder. The default one appears to be invalid for some reason. eg, you don't have write permission to that directory. Try pointing it at "My Documents"

Other than that, it might be a codec issue. Do you have right codec installed? It may need to be a 32-bit version if this is a 32-bit application, but I don't know enough to advise more specifically.

Try a program called PowerISO (can download the trial version from www.poweriso.com). I've used it and it works pretty well (and it can be install so you can mount the ISO images as drives.

Yep. That was it! Thanks!
