I liked left hand of destiny, then again I love any book with Worf in it, I also like the books that Keith DeCandido (I hope I spelled it right) wrote.
I'm not a big Klingon fan or the biker doofuses they turned into, and I like The Left Hand books. It's been ages since I read them but I thought the writing was excellent and the drama of rare quality. The mythical aspects of it all just "fit" for these viking samurai. Ditto the "Star Wars-ian" scale of the books. ...You want the books to be bigger than the series sometimes or you're not taking advantage of your mind's unlimited budget.
^ Weirdly, I actually loved Star Wars books (well, until recently), and I thought the tone so thoroughly clashed with Trek that it seemed out of place and silly.
Gothmara is Morgan le Fay with science instead of magic.
One might even see Kahless as a sort of Merlin-like figure, helping and advising Martok/Arthur about the role he is destined to play. Come to think of it, I've just thought of another similar name - it's the book that first gives Martok's father's name as "Urthog" (which sounds a little like "Uther"), isn't it?
